A real good movie, but would it look good on BD? I feel Stripes could look real bad if they use some old master.

sweet, they got this lined up to play on HDNET movies and lately it seems some of the movies they show essentially get released on blu a month or 2 after.

It'd be nice if Sony would knock out "Stripes", "Meatballs" and "Ghostbusters II" all at once to finish out the Murray/Ramis collaborations on Blu.

Note that Stripes is streaming in HD on Netflix (TV only), or was last time I checked, which may give an idea of what the Blu will look like.

Nice. I almost bought this on DVD literally just a few days ago. I needed one more item to round my Amazon order up to free shipping range, and I almost picked this DVD. Thankfully I thought better of it and decided to wait for news of a blu. Didn't have to wait long!

I watched my Extended Edition DVD a few months ago, and I thought it looked awful. Not so much that the transfer was bad; it's just a lot of gaudy compression on the disc. On Blu-Ray it'll probably still be a bit drab, but unless they goof something up (too much DNR, too much noise, something), it should look miles better than any DVD copy before it.

"That's a fact, Jack!"

Great news! I had seen this listed a few times on (i think)ShowtimeHD, or one of the other movie channels. Thought it looked okay for OTA content. Hopefully the BD will include the TOP SECRET EM-50 Urban Assualt Vehicle cut-n-fold insert!

Man, Stripes used to be one of my absolute favorite comedies, but I have seen it sooo many times that I don't think I could stomach it again.

I'll pass for now. Maybe I'll snag it when I run out of things to collect and it hits the bargain bin.

I hope they implement the extended version differently. I don't believe the DVD was seamlessly branched:

-If you played the theatrical version, there would be a slight pause as the player skipped over the extended scenes...

-But if you played the extended version, a subtitle would flash "Extended Scene" every time something new came up.
