Default GUNDAM fans unite!

So today I decided to finally pop in my Gundam Unicorn Blu-rays (episodes 1-3) and I was blown the hell away.

Not sure why it took me all these years to watch them lol.

I've watched the original series, Zeta, ZZ, Victory, G, Wing, X, SEED, 00, and every special and movie in between and after those.

I got about 10 episodes into Turn-A Gundam a few years back and then stopped. I think I need to get back to Turn-A, then I believe there was Gundam AGE, Iron Blooded Orphans (New Show), and one ova I am missing that relates to the 0079 year.

I never bothered with the SD bullshit. Anyone else here fans of Gundam?

I've pretty much only watched the ones Toonami and Adult Swim showed like Wing with its Endless Waltz movie(OVA), 08th MS Team, G Gundam, original series, Seed, Seed Destiny, 0083, Superior Defender Gundam Force and F-91. Have the 1st Blu-ray of Unicorn.

I have all Gundam released in the US save for Igloo (who cares?) and Wing (sold it because it sucks). I've yet to buy the 0079 Blu-rays though. Never had the series on DVD either, only the movies.

If it's Universal Century, I'm pretty much gonna watch it. Any of the alternate universes, however, and it's not so certain.

I enjoyed Gundam Wing well enough as a kid, though I haven't ever rewatched it. G Gundam is too awesome to hate. I liked SEED as a sort of condensing of the OYW and Gryps Conflict/First Neo Zeon War. The first season of Gundam 00 was pretty good in my eyes, though I wasn't too thrilled with the second season. I didn't get very deep into AGE or Reconguista in G before dropping them, and I never gave Build Fighters a go. I'm watching Iron Blooded Orphans right now, and I'm liking it thus far.

Oh, and ∀ Gundam counts as far late UC. Not sure what Tomino was thinking about trying to shove Reconguista in there, too.

I mostly prefer most of the Tomino Gundams and the UC side stories. In general, I'm partial to most of the pre-95 Gundams. The newer ones stray farther and farther away from sci-fantasy and more into straight up fantasy. I never minded the Newtype mystical stuff up to a certain point, but when they started to get into Gundams shooting rainbow lasers out of every orifice that can take out an entire enemy fleet with one shot, I started losing interest. Of the past 20 years, the only Gundams I really enjoyed were Turn A, Gundam Unicorn, and Build Fighters.

I want to be a Gundam fan, buts always been so hard (and this is coming from a MACROSS & VOTOMS fan). At this point I've only watched 008th MS Team and War in the Pocket to completion. I'm reading Gundam the Origin, and watching Gundam the Origin. I've started Turn A, and have be been sitting on Unicorn.

Currently I'm watching Iron-Blooded Orphens which has rocketed to my top three of the new season. I like it a lot.

Slog through the UC 0079 movies and get to Zeta. Also, watch 08th MS Team, 0083: Stardust Memory and War in the Pocket.

Don't bother finishing Wing.

The new series, Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans is awesome. They are 5 eps in and released weekly subtitled and everything. Really liking the storyline for this one as well. Forgot how kick ass Gundam was.

Anyone here watched Turn-A or AGE? I need to know if they are worth my time even though I will watch them anyway because I am a completionist.

Someone here should've watched Turn-A, since it came out in North American a while ago I've seen about eight episodes, and it seems very good. Very different in setting though, from other Gundam shows. Very likeable main character.

AGE has drawn criticism from all over. It's said to fail in pretty much every aspect. I've seen the first six episodes (it's out on engsubbed Blu-ray in Japan) and I think it's OK. I'm not paying more than 1.000-ish yen per disc though, so it'll be a while before I have a full collection.

I have seen and completed Turn A. It is very good, but much of it has a WMT (World Masterpiece Theatre) with Gundams vibe. The end of course moves into more typical space Gundam shenanigans.

It also features probably the strongest, most intelligently written female characters in any Gundam series I've ever seen, which is something some anime fans sometimes unfairly criticize Tomino for not doing in the past.

Completed Unicorn - 10/10 awesomeness. I loved the design for Banshee.

Oh, Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans ep 6 this weekend!

Thunderbolt's first episode was pretty amazing. Style through the the room, and it's world building makes it quite unique (wreckage of a Side as a local, handicapped Zeon forces filling the ranks, the music). The fact that this will only be four 18 min shorts is definitely both a blessing and a curse, it won't over stay it's welcome, but I know I'm still going to be craving more.

And because it's free and legal on YouTube we can just link it!

Watched it the other day and I LOVED IT. Man, that shit was grim and dark. I cannot wait for the 2nd release to come out.

Iron-Blooded Orphans has been kicking serious ass lately as well. I hope Sunrise announces some sort of new series after it's done (ends at ep #25).

I still got Evolve, AGE, Turn-A, and G in Reconguista to watch to complete my Gundam viewing.
