Default Will Plasma owners transition to OLED?

Since Plasma's are no longer manufactured will plasma owners upgrade to an OLED display? As plasma owners, which most so-called videophiles are, set get old and stop working, will invest in OLED or do you still have concerns about OLED panel life span?

I'll gladly upgrade to OLED when they are affordable, 4K, 80"+ and they've fixed the blue pixel lifespan. For now I'm very happy with my 60" VT60

Same here. "When" an 80" OLED that doesn't cost as much as a used car is available with matured tech, my 65" ZT60 will move to the bedroom. Is that overkill? A 65" bedroom TV?

Well...you'll definitely be able to say..."I think the camera added 15 pounds..."

(there was another joke in there but hey...)

But, seriously, LCD doesn't exist to me.

That's the plan for me as well though I'd consider a modest 70" OLED as well.

I waited until I could afford a Kuro, I'll wait until OLED is reliable and affordable. No LCD for me.....

I'm still enjoying both of my 50inch plasma TV sets...which are a Kuro 5020 and Panasonic ST60 but as soon as these are no good and OLED is affordable I'm going to convince my wife to get me a 60 or 70 inch OLED

My 58" plasma is alive and kicking and still looking fabulous, so right now I'm not thinking about buying another TV of any kind.

I bought a new 60" ZT at the end of last year, had to import it as there were none left in the country. I did not want any kind of TV other than a Plasma.

It's a beautiful TV I have no reason to upgrade from - I can't fit a TV larger than 60" in my home anyway so 4K, 8K etc will all be wasted on my eyes, and I still haven't seen an LCD screen that looks better, OLED or otherwise.

I'm still iffy on the blue pixels.

OLED sets cost too much for having a potentially short lifespan. Black levels and rich colors don't mean a lot if the quality is going to decline in a couple of years on a $6,000 set.

I'm completely open to lcd if they get the picture quality up to par. Most notably the motion. I doubt they can but i'm not against lcd per se, my issue is its limitations that are currently present (and whilst I think they are tied to the tech, you never know, maybe some clever person/group will fix it one day). I'm also up for oled if they can improve upon what I have and become more reliable/cheaper etc.

I am however not interested in a sidegrade, meaning I want something better in every regard to what I currently have (a 65vt60), anything less and what is the point?

How far away do you sit? I'm guessing you would see the difference, but resolution is far less important then contrast. Something your tv has in spades and then some.

None of my Kuro's have even hinted at giving me any problems. I'll go OLED when the time comes, but there's no rush at the moment. I cringe at LCD...

For any Kuro owner that wants to turn their 5020/6020 into a Elite 111/151 I have a new elite board on hand. Pm me.

Waiting could cause OLED not to make in the market. I still believe the masses will go for whatever LCD that's out over other display technologies. OLED is in a tough spot. 4K LED/LCD TV's are coming down in price and 4K is now marketable and sexy.

Thumbs up Great Thread!

I never thanked so many posts in one thread and I sincerely liked every one.

Great thread and excellent posts, every one. (and yes, I meant to say "every one" twice)

I must have broken or used up my quota as my "Thanks" button does not show up, so I had to quote this one just to say... thanks!

I'm happy with my current professionally calibrated VT30 but am keeping my eye on OLED...have they fixed the issues with blue pixels, image retention etc?

Kuro or bust! 7 year ol Elite that still makes my friends drool. I'm gonna wait til my 111 dies on me before I put money on an OLED tv.

Encouraging news on the new Panasonic OLED from IFA. Doesn't make me excited though as I have my TV at home waiting. I would be very exited if I owned an LED though!

My Kuro 5020 and Samsung F8500 plasmas are still working as expected. Yes, I will consider an OLED when they are more affordable. Looking at the black levels of the 65" LG model makes me want to cry........
