I do love a mixture of AK, with samurais, and adaptations of Shakesperean tragedies (Throne of Blood via MacBeth was so damned awesome). But I am waiting until I get the physical copy of Ran for cheap, or it'll feel odd compared to the rest I have.

Also eligible for disc to digital for $2 if you own the blu-ray!

Question: Can you do the disc-to-digital through a Blu-Ray player? I have the Vudu app on my S5500, but I didn't bother yet to see if it had other features like the disc-to-digital outside out a PC.

Still holding out for the 4K-remastered BD. I wouldn't expect the latest remaster to have made its way to digital yet.

I only know of using a computer for the at home disc to digital.
You can also do it at a physical Walmart store (same price)

:-( They won't convert my Seven Samurai Criterion to Digital, even though it IS there.

Seven Samurai, and probably all other criterion titles, aren't D2D eligible. Not everything on Vudu is eligible for the disc to digital program. Not every studio is is on board with this program. Pretty much every non uv title won't be D2D eligible, and then films from studios like Disney owned stuff and MGM. Just to Vudu's site and under the services tab, select 'Convert DVDs' on the list. The page it takes you will have search bar where you can search for eligible titles.

I'm thinking titles that were also released as a "regular" movie as opposed to criterion only may be D2D eligible. For example, I was able to convert Charade, Ice Storm, Being John Malkovich, Brazil, Palm Beach Story, Rosemary's Baby, and Sullivan's Travels.

This is a nichey film imo. Neither of the 2 blu-ray versions are all that spectacular and neither are ever "cheap". I don't know if this film will ever see a 4K transfer but for $7.99 I happily added this gem to my library. If it pops up as a 4K in 3 or 5 years I'll double dip no problem.

All I was getting at is that any movie that Vudu list the studio as being from The Criterion Collection aren't going to be D2D eligible since Criterion doesn't participate in the D2D program from Vudu/Walmart. The films you listed have a different studio listed for Charade, Brazil, Palm Beach Story and Sullivan's are from Universal Studios; Ice story is a Fox Seachlight, Rosemary's Baby is a Paramount film and Being John Malkovich is listed as from Focus Studios. If Brazil was list as being from The Criterion Collection, instead of Universal Studios, then I doubt it would be D2D eligible.

I borrowed the non-Criterion versions from the public library. I did check via Vudu's website that these were D2D eligible.
