Default Panny DMP-BD30K Audio setup

Hello all,
I am trying to figure out which audio setup would be best for my Panny which should be arriving next week.
Television: Sony KDL-40W3000
Receiver: Sherwood RD-6500
There are so many options here like just using HDMI from Panny to my LCD tv or using an optical cable (toslink) from Panny to receiver or even 6 ch direct.
I am sure my speakers play a big part in this, which are Bose Acoustimass 3 and using AIWA center speaker and two AIWA rear speakers.
My speaker set up is kind of a mixture but they sound great. lol.
Anyway, any suggestions on how to setup my audio would be greatly appreciated.

....well, since the Panny cannot internally decode the Lossless formats and your receiver cannot decode them either....you'd be ok with just connecting an optical cable and calling it a day.

If you want to hear Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master, then you should consider buying a new HDMI receiver that can decode them. (Onkyo TX-SR605 for starters)

Thanks for the suggestions and comments.
Someday I will upgrade my receiver but in the meantime I will most likely go with the optical cable since I already have it.
Thanks again.
Oh, one more question without posting another thread.
I have read of Panny DMP-BD30. Is that a different system than mine? Is there a series of BD30's or are they just excluding the K at the end?
Silly question, I know.

did you buy chance buy this unit from best buy? I just bought the Samy BD-P1400/X from best buy and I believe its the same unit. I duno why best buy adds extra stuff to the end of the numbers.

No. I bought it directly from Panasonic online.

Default 6ch direct

You may want to try analog 5.1 if your receiver supports it. I did this on my harman kardon receiver you should be able to get the lossless sound.

I need to do more research. Not sure what lossless is but I have seen it mentioned quite a bit.
I have toslink cable and will try that. I may also try 6 ch direct.
Does 6 ch direct use standard RCA type jacks?

The 'K' in DMP-BD30K stands for 'blacK'. At least, that's what Pannie has tended to do with their other equipment. Have you upgraded your firmware to 1.2 (you'll find the download and instructions on the Panasonic Global site if you haven't yet). Love mine.

I haven't received the player yet. Just ordered it the other day.
Thanks for the heads up on the firmware site.
From what I have read with personal reviews and Cnets review it sounds like a pretty good system.
