Ju Dou (Zhang Yimou) - 11/27/2015 - Blu-ray Forum

Kadokawa Pictures in Japan is releasing Zhang Yimou's Ju Dou on Blu-Ray for November 27th. Apparently it's an HD master from the original negative, and from the trailer it looks amazing.

No English subtitles, though.

I wish this, Qiu Ju and Raise the Red Lantern would be released in Europe/USA with English subtitles.

A boxset would be outstanding!

That would be amazing. I don't know what the hold up is with English friendly releases on Zhang's early films.

Yeah, it would be really nice if we could get more of his highly regarded stuff coming in. Next year we will be 10 years into the blu-ray format

It would be wise to release all of Yimou's or Gong Li's films on blu with English subs.

Blu-ray database has The Road Home for years, but it still says "no release date".

Then don't list it then.

Red Lantern BluRay with HD transfer (not upscale) will be an instant blind buy if it includes English sub

Zhang YiMou's House of Flying Daggers & Hero (Japanese edition) look like an upscaled DVD.
Am I right? Or they botched a HiDef transfer....
