I'll skip this at the cinema but I'll definitely pick up the 3D release. I have a feeling that this will flop due to its huge budget. Reviews are positive but I'm not sure this is the kind of movie that everyone will embrace.

I just got back from watching this. Was fun to catch references and look at changes from the book (which there were many) but this has to be the most emotionless Spielberg film I can recall. Not that I suspect that would damage its box office takings.

How does it compare to the book, which I really enjoyed?

8/10 for me,there were no 3D showings today which is how I would have preferred to see it but may go again to catch it in that format.

Enjoyed the film but will be holding off on picking it off. I imagine despite the endless in jokes and background references, this isn't worth revisiting often.

I believe this is a Warner Bros. film which usually means that HMV gets any steelbooks. So it’s a bit weird that any haven’t been announced along the other releases. Anyway if the film is good I might end up importing the Best Buy 4K steelbook if nothing materialises here.

All of these 80's throwbacks in cinema, TV and across clothing lines only help reinforce the belief that the 1980's truly was the best decade to be alive.

My number one question for this film is the soundtrack; is it like, totally rad?

Being a child of the 80s, I can confirm you are correct.

Sorry I'm late. It's very different, with lots of the book bits unfilmable (like WarGames I guess). It's not a bad adaptation, but I am glad I read the book before hand.

I loved this film and I want to be able to preorder a 4K steelbook somewhere! HMV or Zavvi are taking their time with this 1...

Since it's a WB release, HMV will likely get the steelbook if there is. And HMV's track record with WB steelbooks is to not do a 4K steelbook and instead do a 3D steelbook or normal Blu-Ray steelbook if 3D isn't an option. They've done this for all the major WB releases over the last year or more (Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Justice League, IT, Lego Batman).

So if HMV release a steelbook, it'll be 3D

Thankfully France have a track record of releasing 4K/3D/blu superpacks of recent WB releases
