Starring Linda Darnell (My Darling Clementine, The Mark of Zorro, A Letter to Three Wives, Hangover Square), the always great Cornel Wilde (Leave Her to Heaven, The Naked Prey, The Big Combo, Road House, Edge of Eternity), and George Sanders (Rebecca, All About Eve, The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Village of the Damned) ![]() ![]() ![]() Linda Darnell is virtually unknown today except to classic movie fans, but she was one of the most stunning beauties and talented actresses ever to grace the screen. Born in Dallas, Texas, in 1923 to a postal worker, she started her journey on the road to film stardom as a child department store model and in beauty contests. Her striking looks made her appear older than she actually was. Already performing in local theater at the age of 13, her mother took her to a tryout when Hollywood scouts visited the Dallas area in search of new talent. Linda was invited to Hollywood for a screen test, but was sent home when her real age was discovered and told to come back in a couple of years. She did just that and made her film debut at the age of 16 in Hotel for Women (1939), a role for which she is sometimes given credit as the youngest leading lady in Hollywood history. More roles followed, including those for which she is best known today, along with fame as a WWII pinup girl. By the mid-1950s she had decided to put her career on hold for her second marriage. When she returned, she mostly worked in television. Quality film roles began to decline and her further marriage and divorce woes lead to heavy drinking. Her life was tragically short. She died in a house fire in 1965 at the age of 41. Last edited by oildude; 08-25-2018 at 08:49 AM. |

I have the Sidonis French Blu since 2012. It is outstanding, but American releases quality usually outclass Europeans.
As it sold out in a flash, I made a Rip, Uploaded it to PublicHD Torrents, and used to be alive until 2015. One of Darnell's Untraceables is SUMMER STORM (1944), it had discreet reviews, but Linda was never hotter. A Chekhov story, co-starring the sublime George Sanders. DVD so unobtainable it crossed my mind to make another Rip, but never did. ![]() Last edited by EugeneFraga; 11-08-2017 at 08:36 PM. |
