Hey guys. I'm honestly not that well-versed in receivers/audio stuff in general, so any help you could give would be appreciated. So this happens more often than I'd like. I recently got Synapse's release of Suspiria. It comes with a 4.0 DTS-HD Master Audio track. I have a Yamaha A770BL receiver, and when I play this Blu-ray it outputs that audio track in 5.1. When I go into the information section of the receiver it reads "Input 4.0" and then for output says 5.1. I've messed around with all different settings on my receiver to try and fix it, playing it in all the different possible modes, but none have worked.
The only way I can get it to play in 4.0 is by going into my receiver setup and turning off the center channel, which isn't necessarily difficult but just annoying to have to deal with anytime a more "unusual" audio track pops up. I even get the same kind of problem with 1.0 Mono audio tracks, most notably from Criterion, which ends up outputting to 2.0 when I'm in Direct mode. Some others seem to have this problem as well. For my Blu-ray player I'm using an OPPO 203. Now, is there perhaps a setting in the audio menu of the player that will help alleviate this problem, or am I better looking for answers that have to deal directly with the receiver? Thanks. |
