I’m excited for this. And if Universal releases a 4K I’ll get that. I am kind of sad that they didn’t include Crowe’s book.

If you have a 4k player and you purchase this so close to the 40th anniversary,you are dumb. As much as I adore this film,even a new better transfer,and new extras wont persuade me. You just know theyre will be a 4k next year,and possibly from Universal themselves.

I don't know why, I had this on my list of rumored/suspected upcoming releases, but I had attributed it to Arrow.

Great news! I've been a fan since first catching it at a midnight screening in '82, and first owned it on LaserDisc in '83 (bought it along with THE THING on the same day). Funny, dramatic and filled with memorable characters and terrific performances, this one still resonates.

It's not mentioned in the specs, but fingers crossed we get a lossless offering of the original mono...

Yeah, this is really making me question and future Criterion purchases. I'll wait for the UHD release, which is for certain coming from the studio.

after Do The Right Thing, I'll pass. not double dipping when a likely UHD Universal release could be around the corner.

Great news, but you really do have to wonder if perhaps Universal themselves (in the US) or Arrow won't release it in the UK as a 40th Anniversary 4K UHD next year.

I wish Criterion would make the leap to 4K sometime this century. They seem to be as stubborn as certain studios are about still sticking to lossy audio on Blu-rays.

LOL, I had given up hoping this was going to happen, and got the old Universal release with the ancient DVD-era transfer last year for like $5. Will probably upgrade.

there have not been issues with the soundtrack since the initial VHS release...
