I'm in for a signed copy.
I don't love any of them, but it seems like I enjoy Roth's movies more than the average horror fan. I paid $3 for the current Green Inferno Bluray a while back, so I'm not as much interested in the movie here. I am hoping the features will be pretty big on this release though. I love to hear Roth talk horror, so if we get a feature length doc on him talking the history of cannibal movies or something, it'll be worth the price of admission for me. |

Saw this theatrically and enjoyed it not just for the Cannibal movies tribute but also for the snowflakes commentary; Roth could have easily just done another dumb cannibal movie but adding that political element and have it play out in the gross out moments was IMO genius, I enjoyed every minute of it.
I will await the extras to see if I'll upgrade the barebones release, but nice to see it getting some love from the labels. |

I like Eli Roth. I may not list his movies anywhere near my all time favorites but I give him a lot of credit. Say what you will about “torture porn” but it still happened. It became mainstream. And the go to’s for the origins of it are usually Saw and Hostel. And the directors of those had pretty successful 2018s with non-horror films, at least not horror in the Saw/Hostel sense.
Plus I like Roth in interviews and that doc/miniseries he did on AMC about horror genres is very enjoyable. And that’s all I have to say about that...for now. |

I think Eli Roth is a very interesting filmmaker that makes bold choices but in my opinion they rarely ever pay off. This is a movie that I was ridiculously excited for, i’m a fan of the original Cannibal Hollocaust but this remake was a giant misguided missed opportunity. I was so let down when I finally saw this on blu-ray. Yes, there’s social commentary and a message but he does a horrible job at getting it across and that ending was so anti-climatic and boring. I don’t understand how Roth always has these interesting ideas and isn’t afraid to pull punches but still they never come together right.
That said, depending on the new bonus features I might pick this up when it’s on sale for $15. I enjoy the bonus features on Roth’s movies. It’s always fun to watch his craft and to try and figure out what exactly he was trying to achieve, he’s kind of the Michael Bay of horror, very misguided movies but there’s something there |

The Green Inferno has more in common with Cannibal Ferox than it does with Cannibal Holocaust, although both are clear influences.
I’m going to revisit those two before I see The Green Inferno again by way of this Blu-ray, even though they both bum me out somewhat. Sky Ferreira, who plays the lead girl’s college friend in the Roth film, is not the best actress in the world, but I sure do love her music. |

I still need to pick up Jungle Holocaust and Slave of the Cannibal God's recent releases so the order may still change as I plan to have another marathon once I've picked up those 2 releases (while also including "The Man from Deep River" which missed the last marathon as well) but at the same time I wouldn't be shocked to see it stay firmly planted in the 3rd position as well. |
