Even after the best comic book trilogy of all-time in TDK, I still have to go with Michael Keaton.
1. Michael Keaton 2. Christian Bale 3. Adam West 4. Val Kilmer 5. George Clooney Expecting *gasp* Batfleck to top this list after the next movie, though |

1. Christian Bale
He was the first one to really give Bruce/Bats an emotional edge. People argue about the batvoice, but that has never bugged me. 2. Val Kilmer Forever is one of the more underappreciated entries in the series if you ask me, and Kilmer was the best of the three Batman from the 89-97 era IMO. 3. Michael Keaton Closely behind Kilmer, and a huge part of that is Keaton's looks. He just never had the physicality or looks to really sell the role for me, but all things considered, he made a good job. 4. Adam West Considering what they were aiming for, I think West was great. It's just, well, the 60's Batman IS hard to take seriously, but for comedic purposes, he is unbeatable! 5. George Clooney No, just no. Clooney didn't seem to know what the hell he was even doing there in the first place. While Schwarzenegger and Thurman hammed it up to 11, Clooney just didn't seem to care at all. I think that it could have been great if he had taken more influence from West. |

That's exactly my list as well. I'm expecting affleck to take the 2 or 3 spot though.

I think Val Kilmer played Bruce Wayne the best and Michael Keaton played Batman the best.

The best Bruce Wayne and Batman is the animated series version. If you could somehow replicate him perfectly in a live action movie I'd die happy. But of all the live action actors, it's hands-down Keaton for me. He plays the dark mysterious role of Wayne nearly perfectly, and wears the suit well too.

Michael Keaton was both the best Bruce Wayne and the best Batman.
Val Kilmer's performance is underrated. Adam West's Batman wasn't my ideal interpretation of the character but was in keeping with the tone of the show. Christian Bale was an occasionally decent Bruce Wayne and a terrible Batman. George Clooney made no effort. I'm expecting somebody to reply to this with 'In your opinion' because I've not put 'IMO' at the beginning of every sentence. |

Best Batman: Christian Bale
Best Bruce Wayne: Christian Bale I think George Clooney could have made a really good Batman, unfortunately his first and ultimately last try at Batman was in the god awful Batman and Robin. |

Bale is easily the best in my opinion, Keaton is good but i mostly enjoyed his Batflicks for the supporting characters. thats true of Bale's films too, but he definitely brought more depth to the character and played the pain and anguish of Bruce Wayne well which is essential for Batman. Keaton was a little too light hearted. the less said about the rest the better.

Voted Bale, for me its a tough choice between him and Keaton but Bale was in the better movies and had the far better role in those movies.
This is what I think my list will end up being after Affleck: 1. Bale/Keaton 2. Affleck 3. Kilmer 4. West 5. Clooney It shouldn't be too hard for Affleck to edge out Kilmer as he was passable at best, but did what he could with the material. |

Bale and Keaton both were good in the role, but I voted for Bale.
