I never heard of this film, and by the look of it here, not many else have. I tried to find a thread in the forum section, but no luck.
I just RedBox'd this film (seems only available on DVD. No blu-ray release in sight). Its got Emily Browning, Juno Temple and Michael Cera. All I can say is, what a bizarre film. I don't know what it was trying to say or do. But, in a way, I enjoyed it. I was always interested in where it was going and what was going to happen next. I can tell its about mental illness and whatever triggers it... But anyone see it? What do you think? If there's already a thread on this, I apologize. Please merge. |

I accidentally posted it here because I was just reading replys in another thread. Can I move it, or, would a mod be able to? |

I liked it as I was watching because I was anticipating something big... But nothing. So I enjoyed the ride, but not the end result. |

This was the most unfairly pushed straight to DVD film I can think of, at least in recent memory. It's really something. There are some strong Polanski vibes and Juno Temple is fantastic. I may keep my eye on that Australian BD if it goes down in price at some point.

However, it did get a 71 on Rotten Tomatoes. |

Saw it. I thought it was ok. It's been a bit since I saw it but IIRC, didn't it have an odd ending or maybe it was one left to the viewer to decide.

But again, its not yet available on blu-ray in the States anyway. I know many like that Juno Temple actress, but my wife and I dig the stylings of the other actress; Emily Browning. We liked her (and the oddball film) Sleeping Beauty (2011). I think she'll be a bigger star in a few years. She'll become a household name by 2018. |

I agree that the film is not a very good one, but in addition to Ms. Temple the cinematography courtesy of Christopher Doyle is also commendable. Unfortunately the film will lapse to wallpaper status long before you finish it. It makes a foray into the early-Polanski territory of paranoia via confinement and unfulfilled sexual tension, but this is played for surface wrapping early on; largely evaporating when the movie devolves into something of a scene-stealing exercise as it attempts to turn into a horror film.
Michael Cera speaks good Spanish, though. |
