Default Today Tonight : Aussie news on Format war

did anyone else catch the brief report they did on the high def war , they went over some good facts for blu ray , such as studio support but they went the whole HD DVD is cheaper they had some toshiba clown saying that hd dvd's cost $30-$35 at retail stores here what he failed to mention was that's the price of older titles , new releases on HD DVD are between $40-$50 at retail and online stores.

any other aussies thoughts?

Just caught it. Good advertising I guess, lets people know more about the format. But the lies about HD DVD being cheaper just got me angry. I wish Toshiba would stop spreading crap. At least they said that Blu-ray is the dominant format here in Australia with 92% market penetration. Hopefully people will pick up on that.

I wish toshiba would quit with all the bullshit. Oh well, the family took advantage of the buy 2 get 1 free today and we came home with 6 new blu-rays...hehehe. JBHIFI in the city had all the harry potter movies on blu-ray. I couldn't find any on hd dud. I guess Warner doesn't see a point catering to 4% of the hd market in australia.

Sure, back catalogue titles are cheaper on HDDVD, but the selection is really weak.

Today Tonight aren't known for good journalism, so I wouldn't worry - except obvisally Toshiba has bought advertising.

That is a good point, TODAY TONIGHT ISN'T KNOWN FOR GOOD JOURNALISM. So I wouldn't take much notice of most of the crap they come out with.
