Default Any Ferrari enthusiasts?

I figured I'd made a semi - Official Ferrari thread... Who doesn't love the sound of an Italian engine? The recent drop in the economy has made these cars very affordable. You can pick up a 360 for about $70k now.

I remember the first one I really fell in love with was the Testarossa. This thing is such a beast.

Then we had the lovely 355. I think everyone remembers the iconic scene in Goldeneye.

Who doesn't love the 360 Modena? Probably one of my favorite Ferrari's until the F430 came out.

The F430...just looks great and has become very popular over the past few years.

The super rare F50...this one is just..

The Enzo Ferrari with a price tag of over 1 million. No power windows, radio, or carpeting.

The main reason I'm looking forward to the NYC auto show this year.

The 458 Italia...A concept car that became a reality.

Move to Manhattan..

lol I didn't say I was going to buy one right away. I still have my college loans to pay off. I'm just emphasizing that these are 200k+ cars that are now relatively affordable. I totally agree with you. 70k is a nice chunk to pay towards a mortgage and not towards a guaranteed garage queen. Not to mention the average Ferrari tune-up is 5k.

I'm also on the NSXprime boards (come on over Macruz) and there's a nice even split between NSX sellouts for a Ferrari and former Ferrari owners who decided the Ferrari wasn't a practical car. The NSX you can drive everyday.

Ya..I do the same thing. I really was amazed to see an F430 on the road the other day when it was 20 degrees out. I baby my S2000 and these rich guys are driving Ferrari's in the snow lol come on. You probably see them everyday. I was down in Miami Beach during the summer and every other car was a Ferrari or a Lambo. So none of you guys have a favorite?

haha...poor man's Ferrari is right. It has the looks and is lightweight but not the hp unfortunately. There's a lot of factors to consider. Again, you can drive the NSX everyday and the repairs are minimal. Ferrari is going to cost you. I could get a nice NSX for 18k '92ish but it wouldn't have a 6sp, no targa, no power steering. Those years just suck. NSX-T '95 is an nice upgrade and a reasonable price but finding one with low miles is becoming extremely hard.

97+ is pretty much the year you want to go with. You get the bigger engine and 6sp gearbox.

I think 2000 they just added a new color.

Then we had the big change in '02 with the new face lift but no more flip-up headlights. However, we got the Xenon's and a crapload of interior leather and carpet options. My main eye is set on an '05 Long beach blue. It's the last year and it just seems like I'll eventually be able to find one with low miles. Only problem is she goes for 50k..which brings me to the theory of if you're going to drop that kind of money on a sports car, why not go Ferrari? Especially when they're only 20k more.

Good luck with the search...it takes a long time to find the perfect NSX especially one that's been babied.

It's visually stunning.

Here's a vid of it. The guy who gives the breakdown is pretty funny lol.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTurbScHcqY

It looks like manual transmissions are a thing of the past. It's all paddle shifters now. Another example of that is the Nissan GTR.

Here's a nice 458 wallpaper as well.

I agree with supercars competing at their level I'm sure its cut into their profits big time... (I can't find one for 70 though lol)

My buddies dad just got rid of his GT-R he just hated paying the insane premiums.

Our neighbor who had a 2006 one said he was tearing up the bottom and having to invest tons in repairs because around md/va/dc of pot holes exc.

70k..ish lol the particular one I saw was on eBay and had around 30k miles on it. That is pretty high for a Ferrari. Granted, it was almost 10 years old. It all comes down to preference. I'd say 2k miles a year would be excessive for a Ferrari. So that would average out to about 20000 miles. So it would be 10k over what it should be as far as "collectibility factor" goes. Which is probably why it's relatively cheap.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. While I do think that the 458 Italia looks great from a side angle, it's anything but from the front and the rear (i.e. I would take the Enzo over the 458 without reservation).

Don't care much for the 458's interior either (I wonder if Pininfarina hired some ex-Honda designers on the cheap ).

Ferrari is my favorite car that I'll never own. A couple of my favorites are:

Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder

Ferrari 250 GT Tour de France

Yeah, I love the older ones....

SDon1969- very nice choice.

This article should interest you.
http://jalopnik.com/391696/1961-ferr...nsive-car-ever
One of these cars is worth 10 Enzo's! I'd say the California is the most coveted Ferrari out there. Ferris Bueller probably increased the popularity of it. I originally thought that the car in the movie was authentic. (not the one that fell down the cliff though...) Some of the kit cars look really great but the engine sure isn't.

I think I first had a glance of the GT California when David Niven was driving one in The Pink Panther. Why do they always have to wreck that beautiful car?

Here's a 308...the Christie Brinkley car from the Vacation movie. That scene is so iconic lol.

Mondial Cabriolet - Ferrari that Al Pacino was driving in Scent of a Woman.

PrivatePixel- I have no comment in regards to your post... All the car companies are in the "futuristic/look" phase. So a lot of cars look a like nowadays. The main difference is the steering wheel has a lever for Race mode...Honda doesn't have that. And may I also say...hand stitched leather dash...

It's all good. I found the 'body double' comparison (regarding the interiors) in AutoWeek magazine, and I thought I would pass it along since we were on the subject.

I like Ferrari (but not in F1, unless it's Michael Schumacher, but that's another topic), but with the exception of the 360 Modena and F430 (and its variations), I think Pininfarina is holding them back from a design standpoint. Unlike Lamborghini or Pagani, aesthetically-speaking, too much restraint is imposed on how a modern Ferrari should look (whether it's dictated by Ferrari or Pininfarina, I'm not sure). The problem I have with the 458 is that it's a hodge-podge of past designs, but the result is anything but memorable or timeless. You look at something penned during the '60s and the words 'bellisima machina' come to mind; I don't have that same reaction with most of their offerings, especially their GT cars.

Growing up Ferrari's were always the poster car (along with Lamborghini's). Rarely ever saw one on the road growing up. Didn't help that I lived in the rural mountains of Idaho and Montana.

I moved to LA 2 years ago and they are everywhere. I spot one almost every day. Mostly F430's, 599's, 612's and now California's. Beautiful cars all around. If I could buy a Ferrari today, it would be the F430 Spider. Seeing those drive down the PCH with the top down could make anyone jealous. Still waiting to see an Enzo in person, and soon the Italia.

In Vegas last year I got to put my car in the Lamborghini showroom (which oddly had only one Lambo) next to an F430 Scuderia and an F40.

You forgot to put up a picture of one of the best Ferrari ever, the F40!

I'll have to post up a long list of Ferrari that I want a little later. Also, if you buy a 308 it comes with a Navy hat, fake mustache, aloha shirt, khaki shorts, and penny loafers.

And you have to wear them when you drive it while blaring the Magnum PI theme.

Same scenario goes for the Testarossa.

....ya the 308 was extemely popular with that show.

I'll let you do the honors of posting up the F40. And if you really want you can post up the 575M, 599 GTB, and the 612. : There's a guy in Paramus, NJ that has an F40. He switches between that and a 360. I'm in awe every time I see it.

I love the 308. I think it's the best gateway Ferrari since they're so cheap. I'm seriously considering one as my next car. There are a few Ferrari around here. I've seen a 360 and a 430 around my house. I thought I saw an F40 but I knew there was something up. I followed him and when he came to a stop long enough for me to get a good look it had to be a Fiero with a body kit.

Nice pics!
Here's an F40 on eBay but the guy should be shot for putting all those excess miles on. that car should have maybe 5k miles at the most.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1990-...item45f0f5dfd0

355 is a fine car. I've seen it drop down to below 50k but those are way too many miles on them. Good luck on your quest!
