Default Double Fine PsychOdyssey Returns with Second Printing

Hi, I'm Paul Levering, video producer with Double Fine Productions. I produced the Double Fine PsychOdyssey Blu-ray Set, an 8-disc release containing a docuseries we've spent the last 10 years making.

This is the second run of roughly 2000 units, our initial run of 2000 was released last year and sold out in about 9-10 days.

They're on sale over at Fangamer right now, but should be popping up in a few other places shortly.

It's an episodic docuseries about an indie San Francisco game studio trying to survive in a market that's constantly shifting, headed up by Tim Schafer, one of the most charismatic personalities in the whole industry.

This would appear to be a very niche project, but I do think it would appeal to more people if they gave it a shot. It's set in a video game studio but it's kinda like if you mixed "The Beatles: Get Back" with Linklater's "Boyhood" and a healthy dose of NBC's "The Office".

We've got strong personalities, drama, comedy, lots of collaborative process, and most importantly time. We literally capture footage for this project every day for nearly a decade. You see people in a real company learn, grow, age, and change. Sometimes problems can't be resolved. People leave. New ones join. One of our crew left the production of the series to work on the game!

We also completely covered the impact of Covid on the modern office environment as the doc itself had to transition to remote coverage along with everyone else. A lot of stuff happened over all that time.

As a fan/enthusiast of physical media I took great joy in designing this release. We've got a rigid slipcase, a 6 disc gatefold wallet, an 80 page full color book, and a digipak with 2 bonus discs. I was definitely chasing the quality and experience you would see from places like Arrow and Indicator.

I'm assuming most people here haven't heard of us, but I do suggest giving it a shot. There's really nothing else quite like it out there, especially if you have even a passing interest in games. If not, we're still a fascinating study of a uniquely creative business environment.

I watched a few episodes on youtube and really dug it, so I went to grab a physical copy.

Just discovered that Diabolik has this set for $50 on their site. A bit better than Fangamer’s $65. I thought it was exclusive to fangamer? Guess not.

Great that it got re-issued. I find it a bit annoying that none of the information for this mentions any technical specifications whatsoever. When I'm buying a blu-ray, that's kind of the most important thing, what sort of quality does the release offer. To me anyway.

So I hopped on to blu-ray.com to see if they had any specs and I was disappointed to see it only offers lossy Dolby Digital 2.0. That is unfortunate.
