Well, lets get this out in the open. I AM PRO-SOLO BLU-RAY. I support bluray 100%, however, since I have the means, as many of us here do, I scrambled the funds together and recently purchased myself a Toshiba HD-A30 unit at Best Buy, for $249.99 and a few HD-DVD's for reference and enjoyment that cannot be found on Bluray, Bourne and Transformers, the mommy and a few others. I will not get into specifics about my equipment but I am using a Sony Wega Bravia SXRD KDS-R60XBR2 1080p 60" LCD Projection television with matching Sony stand and a direct connection from my HD-DVD unit to my TV using HDMI for video and Optical Out to my Logitech Z-5500 THX Certified Audio system, which I might add all be it, is not a complete FULL stereo surround system with huge floor standing speakers, it is true DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1 system that has THX certification for best audio quality and it really is kick ass, and blows anything out of home theater in a box deal and far beyond that in my opinion, to the fact that I own three of the Z5500 systems. Back to my story, the quality is good, but lacks the true clarity of Bluray. My biggest flop and ***** and moan of the month is, for all these HD-DVD guys, with all this clarity, why does the movie production company seem to feel that a free floating hand held camera is the best way to present their new HD content. I am getting motion sickness watching the movie bounce up and down and all over the dam place, back and forth and back and forth and circles. This crap is nuts. The audio is great the picture quality is clear when its not shooting all over the place, but is this what the HD people are holding out for, fuzz, average picture quality, and shacky camera scenes? I know this is a rant and rave but the bigest pet peve is if anyone is buying all this equipment on either format why are the directors destroying the movies. Feel free to post comments and traitor jokes but I am giving these systems a fair evaluation in my opinion, so that we can all learn and benefit in our later purchases. Happy HD-ing. Hemi.
