United Kingdom The Northman (Robert Eggers)

Amazon have preorders up for Blu-ray and 4K UHD.

HMV also has it up for pre-order along with a Limited First Edition UHD.

Can't wait to see this, but of course my local Everyman is preferring to show Operation Mincemeat and The Lost City rather than this (though I don't really blame them for showing Fantastic Beasts, Sonic 2 and The Bad Guys considering it's a bank holiday weekend).

Hoping they show it next week or I'll have to go further afield to track it down...not missing this in the cinema (The Lighthouse was the penultimate film I saw before the first lockdown, as well as Parasite that same weekend).

PS: I wonder if Second Sight's release of The Witch goes well enough, whether they'd later do The Lighthouse and maybe even The Northman as well? I guess if Eggers was interested and Universal were open to it...

Seeing this along with Bennadetta on Monday. I have to say, I'm on the fence with Eggers. I mean, I like his films but neither of them have really WOWED me, I'm hoping this one will sway me.

Saw it two times in theatre and might go for a third time, it's easily the best movie of the year so far. Getting the 4K for sure as I could not live without UHD (especially for the last act which is rather dark).

Definitely going to pick this one up on UHD, but I find the poster used for the HMV First Edition to be significantly worse than the standard edition cover. A real step back from the excellent art used for Last Night in Soho.

I often find store exclusive editions and steelbook covers worse than the regular art.
