Default Movies with disappointing endings

Anybody have a movie they loved until the ending just spoiled it? Sometimes it maybe that they had to find a happy ending or to others, maybe they don't like a movie to end on a downer and there were expecting the happy ending.

I was just recently thinking that the Abyss would be a great movie to come out on Blu-ray but then I also remember that I just hated how they ended the film. All loved it all the way up to the point he gets to the bottom of the sea floor and then the last 15 minutes just seemed contrived to me.

What other films make you feel this way?

High Tension is the worst offender off the top of my head.

The Lookout... I really liked the movie. The acting and writing was top notch, but the upbeat ending went against the tone of the rest of the movie and kind of felt like a cop out.

Shyamalan is one I just do not understand. I can see what made The Six Sense such a success but then each release after that got worst and worst. I thought the Village was as bad as it could get but I was wrong when Lady in the Water came out.

I am almost compelled to watch what ever comes out next to see if I hate it more, sometimes I just torture myself by making a long flight even worst.

But as somebody else mentioned, it is ruined way before the end.

I actually liked the ending to The Sixth Sense, and Unbreakable. If you want to talk about Signs, The Village, and Lady in the Water. Oh Yeah, they sucked eggs.

Some of M. Night Shyamalan's movies were cool (I love Unbreakable) but some of them blatantly copied the works of authors to whom no credit was ever given.

For example, The Sixth Sense is quite similar to Orson Scott Card's Lost Boys, and the Village follows the storyline of Margaret Haddix's Running out of Time virtually point for point.

Read more here.

This is off the subject but speaking of two movies with the same story lines. I can think of Escape from N.Y/Escape from L.A and Superman/Superman Returns. They're supose to be sequals but the story lines are the same. 90%

I was disappointed in the ending of The Arrival. There was so much buildup and then no alien war or confrontation. Also, both Fantastic Four movies had disappointing endings. The first movie I guess was okay, it was all character and story buildup and then a quick final fight. Then in Rise of the Silver Surfer would have been 10x the movie it was if there was a real encounter with the REAL galactus...not just an angry cloud.

As for M. Knight Shyamalan, I think they are fine..some better than others. If you figure out the "catch" half way through the story is kinda ruined. Not alot of replay value in his stuff but I've appreated each movie the first time through.

I thought Signs was riveting, creepy, and somewhat terrifying all the way through. That movie was so creepy that I had to crate my dogs as they were howling and barking, presumably because of the audio and some of the stuff they saw on screen. I've *never* had to crate my dogs during a movie...usually they don't care so there was something to that movie at least. As for me, I loved it but I will never watch it again.

I supposed I liked Unbreakable best, but that had the mildest surprise to it. Go figure.

Right on with High Tension. That ending tremendously pissed me off. I felt like I wasted an hour and a half of my life.

Boy it sure didnt take very long for signs to crap out for me. Put on closed captioning and you will see the aliens say the following:

"Wow we came light years across the universe and used our advanced technology, but they got the darn basement door locked and Ill be damned if I know how to get it open."

followed by the ever popular:

"Wait a minute what is this wet stuff....Arghh its killing me.......who the frig did recon on this planet, better yet didnt anyone ask what all that blue stuff was when we first saw it?"

Are you serious?

Oh btw I had to crate my dog too cuz he wouldnt stop asking me "Who writes this DOG$***?"
