Default Best -niche- Show of the 2000s?

Figured it was time to do one of these.

The subject of this thread is to post niche shows and get a workup on who likes what the most.

I will focus more on shows that came out within the past few years (from 2000 onward to now), and here's the options:

Vikings on History Channel
Why? Because vikings.

Black Sails on Starz
Why? Because pirates.

Da Vinci's Demons on Starz
Why? Because Da Vinci (?).

Penny Dreadful on Showtime
Why? Because Victorian Horror.

Man in the High Castle on Amazon
Why? Because alternate reality WWII.

Hannibal on NBC
Why? Because Hannibal Lecter (and I need a show to counteract Da Vinci).

Narcos on Netflix
Why? Because war on drugs involving the granddaddy of it all, Pablo Escobar.

Others (etc)
Yes, there will be a spot for a show not on this list. This section will work if:
-You make a post that names the niche show.
-The show focuses on a specific theme or character in a way that has not been done before or to such detail.
-I'm sure some people will be curious as to your choice, so leave a reason or few that sells the show
-These can be from any TV-based network (HBO, Starz, Showtime, BBC, so on) or service (Netflix, Vudu, Amazon, etc).

Exclusions:
Here's the challenge. We've all seen police procedurals, reality shows, competitions and the like. We're looking for the unique shows, the ones that have come out of nowhere and done something that hasn't been done to the scale on TV as it has. Look for different, unique, peculiar. Shows that are incomplete are allowed for submission. Just try not to post anything with a massive fanbase (like Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, so on) unless it has a very unique element to it. After all, the big stuff is real easy to sell when it's immensely popular...but sometimes, the best shows are the ones that make their move quietly and within certain crowds.

Look deep within yourself. If there's a show out there that isn't on this list, make it known. Let this thread build not only to show which of the shows above stand out more, but let it also become a thread that expands our watching pleasures.

I personally will welcome any submissions that aren't on here that I can watch and appreciate.

**As of the making of this thread, if any new niche shows come out that can be submitted and considered on this thread, they will be allowed. Just do an 'Other' vote and post accordingly.**

Let's have fun with this, folks!
