Question PS3 Audio Set-up to 2ch amplifier??

I'm thinking of getting a PS3 but have to solve this issue first. I have a near high-end analogue amplifier, which I love so much. I noticed PS3 has an A/V multi output instead of conventional RCA jack. Is it possible to hook PS3 up to my amplifier for audio having HDMI connected to TV for video? Anyone knows?
Thanks in advance...

Yes, you can set the Ps3 up to output video through the HDMI and audio through
the multi-out.

Yes. You can override the HDMI signal for Audio output easily.

In the settings menu, toward the bottom is audio settings.
In there you can change the audio output. Your choices are HDMI, Optical, or AV.
Just select the one you want, confirm the formats it will support, and viola!

Absolutely. The PS3 offers great analog output for Blu-rays, Super Audio CDs, and CDs. Get yourself one of the better Multi AV connectors out there (Monster makes some of the best for that particular connection), and set your PS3's audio output settings to Multi A/V out. As a bonus, the Multi A/V connection is identical for PS3 and PS2, so you don't have to buy the overpriced PS3 version.

Doesn't the multi cable come with PS3 in box?

Yes, there's a Multi A/V connector located in the box, but it's a cheapie. If you've got an audiophile grade 2 channel amp, get yourself a decent cable. It will be better insulated, have less signal loss, and prevent the introduction of interference better than the OEM cable.

Sounds like your multi-out inquiry will work-out pretty easily. Another thing you should be aware of is that the power plug on the ps3 is of the 3 prong variety. This can play havoc (induced power supply noise or ground loop hum) with older a/v equipment that rely on analog inputs only, if there is other equipment in your system that also has a 3-prong plug (your amp or subwoofer?), or if you have a flakey cable tv connection. Just thought you may like a heads-up on this before you commit.
