10. 300
9. Spiderman 3
8. Ghost Rider
7. FF: ROTSS
6. Shooter
5. I Am Legend
4. Pirates 3
3. The Bourne Ultimatum
2. Live Free or Die Hard
1. Transformers

Ah, that's the box office top ten...

And an incredibly poor B.O. showing this year was, with only 4 titles managing to push past the $300 million mark, and 3 of them doing so on the back of previous installments that grossed over $400 million.

Why is this important to the format war? Well, because people are apparently not going to the movies as much as they used to, so a viable home-viewing alternative that cannot be easily pirated seems to be of paramount* importance.

And is DVD providing that? No. HD DVD? Please. Downloads? Yeah, right.

Pure financial reasons ought to make Blu-ray an inevitable format of choice for the industry.
