If you were to pick up a ps3 in the US you get get it for half of that price. Sucks that they make you guys pay so much for one.

U.S. is the only country that will decide the fate of bluray it's because we're the one that supply all the HD content. They're already loosing money for each PS3 sold here in the U.S.
Once the format war is over I'm pretty sure the price will come down.

I still can't believe how much I paid for the PS3 when it came out - like £475 or something which is just shy of about $1000!!

But then again, I paid £400 for my first DVD player back in 1999 - a Sony multi-region beast that still works perfectly today

In my experience, "stuff" is generally pretty expensive in the UK, so £269 doesn't seem like a bad deal at all

And when you factor in all that a PS3 can do, seems about to be an excellent deal !

You think that's bad, I paid £850 for mine because I got robbed by two guys on the way home from the store after I bought my first one the day they first went on sale here, so had to buy another one! I couldn't believe it, it took me about 2 weeks to calm down enough to go out and buy the second one.

Wow.... that's gotta suck, I hope they dropped it on their toes, tripped over it, and broke their necks.

Hey man, that's pretty rough. Sorry to hear it.

Could you not claim in back through insurance - household / credit card??
