Default Night of the Living Dead II

Original ‘Day of the Dead’ Cast Reuniting in Upcoming ‘Night of the Living Dead 2’

Quote:
As you may have seen on your various social media feeds the last several days, an unofficial sequel to George A. Romero’s horror classic Night of the Living Dead is on the way with Night of the Living Dead II, which was originally teased by our friends at Rue Morgue.

The site explains that Marcus Slabine (The Dark Offerings) is behind this “sequel,” which notably features Terrifier star David Howard Thornton as one of the film’s shambling undead.

Additionally, we’ve learned via a short teaser clip this week, Night of the Living Dead II will also bring back three familiar faces from another Romero classic, the sequel Day of the Dead!

Day of the Dead star Lori Cardille shared the below teaser clip on social media, suggesting that Cardille will be reuniting with Terry Alexander and Jarlath Conroy in the new movie.

Cardille, Alexander and Conroy, it’s interesting to note, play three of only a small handful of surviving characters from Romero’s movies. Are they playing those same roles in NOTLD II?

Stay tuned for more as we learn it…

Rue Morgue teases the first plot details, “Night of the Living Dead II takes place on a remote island where a small group of survivors of the zombie apocalypse take shelter, only to face fresh terror when the flesh-eaters find their way ashore.”

Sounds like an unofficial sequel to Day of the Dead, doesn’t it… ?

I mean...it's cool to see those three together, and I can see why calling it NOTLD2 avoids Day of the Dead copyright but keeps the Romero link, assuming this is spinning off from their ending in Day.

But ultimately....

....lol whut?

No but these three escape to an island in Day of the Dead, which is a sequel to Night.

Calling it "Day of the Dead 2" runs into legal problems, but NOTLD was never copyrighted so I assume there's no legal issue calling it NOTLD 2.

Plus there's already a terrible Day of the Dead 2.

Typically, I avoid all these sequels/remakes/prequels/whatevers to NOTLD because they always look so cheap and terrible. (And not cheap in a good way like the original.) But this one featuring those three piques my interest a bit. Terry Alexander's John is also my favorite character out of all the Romero Dead films.

That's what I was thinking as well, that it's more of a sequel to Day of the Dead, but the title helps avoid any legal issues.

Like getting the band back together after all these years, if you're a fan, you're going to be interested. I'm interested but like what has already been said, the title needs to change.

I saw this thread and immediately hoped it was a sequel to Tom Savini's Night of the Living Dead (1990) and would star Patricia Tallman back as Barbara. I never cared much for the Romero "of the Dead" sequels. The "Return" sequels were fun but really silly.

Night of the Living Dead Part 4 would be Land of the Dead.

This is becoming a "Creed II - Rocky IV: Part II" kind of situation.

I'm one of those who sees Diary and Survival as prequels to Land therefore making Land not connected to Night/Dawn/Day since Diary is a reboot.

The franchise is already pretty fudged up due to the other unofficial prequels and sequels for Night and Day. And the sequels/prequels to remakes. And the whole Zombi 2 thing which has it owns unofficial sequels.

"One of those"?

I never knew such people existed. Land is the natural evolution of the zombies after Bub in Day. It's a clear "sequel" to that original trilogy, surely?
