Horror series with a recurring hero

Most horror movie series are built around a recurring villain. Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Chucky; they're the focus and it's the characters who fight them that change from film to film. So I was trying to think of horror series that instead feature a recurring hero. The villain could even still be the same (literally or just thematically) but the hero is the series' star.

Off the top of my head, I could only think of a few:

* Evil Dead with Ash Williams
* Tremors with Burt Gummer (although he comes to more prominence in the sequels)
* Alien with Ellen Ripley (at least before the prequels)
* Scream with Sidney Prescott

I also thought about I Know What You Did Last Summer because of Julie James, but then I remembered there was a third one without her, and I was trying to think of series having multiple movies (three or more) with the same hero.

Are there any others I'm missing?
