Default Computer Programs

Hey all,
This is completely off-topic but I enjoy this forum and respect everyone's opinions here.
I'm buying my girlfriend a computer for x-mas this year. The one she has now is literally 15 years old. Anyway, We are getting this great deal from a friend who's a software distributor. He can give us whatever programs we want on the computer free of charge with no expiration date when we buy one of his computers. The computer is really nice and comes with an lcd monitor, etc, etc. I didn't come on here to chat about this deal, but to ask you what programs you would ask for and XP or Vista?

Here's my list so far:
Microsoft Office 2007
Adobe Photoshop CS2
Adobe Acrobat 7.0
Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0
Hallmark Card Studio 2004 (she pointed that one out to me in a store)
Quicktime 6.0
iTunes
Kaspersky Anti-Virus
...

Why not Photoshop CS3? Or all of CS3 for that matter?

I don't know. What's CS3 and what does all of it mean?

It's creative suite 3... there are different packages, typically you get Photoshop, Acrobat, Illustrator.

There's a good table here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Creative_Suite

Sounds a little fishy that he'd give you such expensive software for free...

But, anyway, as for the XP or Vista, I'd go for neither. But if that's all she'll use, people generally seem to be happier with XP and generally despise Vista. But be aware that they are both still large system resource hogs... get more than 2GB RAM to get it working smoothly.

Stick with XP, Vista is reminding me more and more of Millenium everyday.

Yeah, I think they are going to release a new OS after that fiasco. What a joke.
