I've seen some test patterns here and there but to my knowledge no standards have been set yet on how to calibrate a 4K TV with HDR.
So I was wondering what the status is of proper ISF 4K/HDR calibration? I have seen a couple of ISF certified calibrators claiming they can calibrate 4K with HDR but with no actual standards, how accurate can those calibrations be? |

Chad B can cal '15 and '16 OLEDs for 2D, 3D and HDR modes. The '15's are very limited but the 16's have better results from the charts I have seen.
I downloaded Ryan Masciola's UHD HDR10 patterns onto a thumb drive after I bought them. |

Bumping my own topic.
![]() I'm going to contact my usual calibrator about this. I just saw on his website he does 4K/HDR calibration and has bought himself new calibration tools to do so. I just want to hear what he has to say about it first before I let him come over though. Although I'm actually fine with my current settings, it still bothers me I haven't had my TV ISF calibrated yet like I usually do. |

My resulting SDR 2020 output is kinda like a hybrid, with luminance that tracks like HDR albeit at a much lower peak brightness, and gamma that clearly shows the deeper blacks and brighter brights inherent to the signal, even once converted to SDR. And yet due to the conversion it's behaving more like a relative brightness signal than an absolute one, meaning that I don't suffer with low APL scenes looking too dark, and as it's not locking out any controls nor maxing out the display backlight/contrast this makes adjusting it very easy. The problem with HDR10 as I see it is the lack of display standards (the UHDA certification is not the same thing), especially tone mapping, rather than calibration standards themselves IMO, though I'm sure Kris Deering could shed some more light on this for us all. |

![]() ![]() My calibrator has the following tools: -Klein Instruments K10-A -X-rite I1pro -Murideo Fresco SIX-G (the one you mentioned) -Spectracal Calman 5 software I guess he could do a pretty good and accurate job then with these? |
