USA Hickey & Boggs (1972) - Kino Studio Classics - December 2, 2014

Hickey & Boggs Blu-ray

Quote:
I Spy stars, Bill Cosby and Robert Culp are united again in this modern film noir about two detectives investigating a kidnapping and running into a gang of vicious criminals responsible for a string of murders. The world of Private Investigators is thoroughly exposed by Hickey & Boggs in this action-packed crime thriller scripted by the great Walter Hill (The Long Riders) and directed by Culp, his one and only directorial effort. When the deadly duo is called upon to find a missing girl they inadvertently stumble upon something far bigger, and end up chasing down a gang of thieves and a $400,000 loot. Featuring a top-notch supporting cast that includes James Woods (The Onion Field), Michael Moriarty (Report to the Commissioner), Vincent Gardenia (Death Wish 1 & 2), Bill Hickman (Bullitt) and Ed Lauter (Breakheart Pass).

I'm very interested but won't preorder as Kino have issued some less than impressive discs

Damn. I bought the On-Demand DVD of this a couple of months back, thinking it would never wind up on Blu-ray. Good film.

I almost bought the On-Demand as a blind buy. Can't wait to see this flick. Heard nothing but great things. So is the Kino Studio Classics library endless?

Same here. And for almost the same price as this Kino release is going to be. I'm thinking I ditch the BOD DVD and spring for this one. H&B is worth it.

Interesting film. Not sure I'd own it but it's a good film to watch at least once. Definitely a product of the 70s.

"I got to get a bigger gun. I can't hit nothing."

An extremely underrated movie....I'm surprised Twilight Time and Criterion passed this one up.

He is as badass as he will ever get, that's for sure. As I recall, this is one of those PG-rated 70s films that would be firmly into PG-13 territory today.

I think Cosby even swears in this film.

"Hickey & Boggs" would 100% be R-rated if released today.

Another voice in support of this brilliant film.

I think it is an interesting take on what their I Spy characters might have become with the end of the swinging 60s and the beginning of the cynical 70s.

Me too, literally bought it like six weeks before the blu-ray was announced. Great little movie, definitely a must-have on blu for me.

Love both, great choice on the reversible cover. Hopefully The Offence gets one as well, but I'm not banking on it.
