Default Sony SA-WM40 VS Velodyne VA-1012XII..........

I was over a friends house watching a movie and was impressed by his sub, which was a Velodyne 1012B. I did some searching when I got home and found a Velodyne VA-1012XII for a very good price in great condition. I currently have a Sony SA-WM40 12" subwoofer which does a pretty good job in my setup. I've listed the specs below, I'm waiting on the Velodyne to arrive via fedex. My receiver has the ability to support 4 subs I believe so I could hook them both up across the room from each other. Was just curious if Velodyne would be a huge improvement over the Sony? I know they are both older units, the Sony is ported and the Velo has a 12" passive radiator...

Hi there.

I've had that sub, and there's another member here who also uses it still in his system. I think it's a pretty good sub, and you should notice a nice improvement over the Sony, if properly set up. I hope you're getting a great deal on it!

Unfortunately not, found on Ebay, have to wait for FedEx.

I should have looked locally, now I see a 1215Xii for $200 in my city.

Good call, and congrats!

I was going to suggest that route, but I figured you had already purchased the 1012 & I didn't want to upset you.

Anyway, congrats again! Now let's see some pics, and don't forget to change your sig.

It was a hard decision as I did purchase the 1012, will most likely have to resell it when I get it as I have no need for 2 subs. Sig changed and pics definitely coming , thanks!

Well this sucks, the 1012 showed up today I actually really like it , and don't want to part with it. I think I'm going to keep it and use it for the pc. The weird thing is the 10" Velodyne plays louder than the 12", with both set at the same volume level.
