Germany One Piece Film Gold 3D Blu-ray (2016) [Region B Locked] [No English audio or subs]

I saw this in theaters recently, but it wasn't in 3D so I was surprised when I came across a 3D version that was actually a high quality 3D version. I ended up finding out that they actually had a 3D release as well as a 4Dx release, which unfortunately neither came to the theaters where I live. That being said I did want to share the fact that there is a 3D release out there, but I can't seem to find anything on bluray availability. The 3D is amazing quality though for what it is as far as depth since everything is animated and everything on the screen has clearly definable lines making it easy to separate stuff at various depth levels. Not really any pop outs since everything is still essentially flat, but it is really cool to see this anime in 3D and it actually came out really well.

Here's an article about the 3D and 4Dx theatrical release as it is the best info I can find about it
https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/new...rgoers/.102136

Ps. first time I am posting a topic about a 3D movie so if a mod wants to change my title and/or post to add any necessary info feel free to do so.

This did come out in Germany, unsurprisingly the discs have no English audio or subtitles.

In Japan there's another One Piece 3D movie - One Piece: Mugiwara Chase - again with no English options:

I like this one. It's a decent 3D conversion by Japanese company Q-tec. They also did Captain Harlock, Yu-Gi-Oh Bonds Beyond Time, Toriko 3D, Atashin'chi, and Nutcracker Fantasy. If you like any of those, you'll like this one too.

This one is short but native 3D and looks great. I say get both One Piece movies, remux with English subs, and enjoy.

I saw some pop out in Harlock and BBT. Not as strong as I'd like, but I've learned that not every conversion can be like TMNT2 (if only...).

Anyhow, are the OP 3D films indeed popoutless?

I prefer Japanese with English subtitles anyways. Also it is really easy to take the audio from a 2D copy and use video editing software to add it to the 3D copy. Plus there are subtitles that can easily be downloaded if needed.

Miguwara Chase isn't 3D in the sense you think... It was a 3D CGI animation rather than 2D drawing, but it is not a SBS/OU video.

Edit: In regard to Miguwara Chase it is not produced for a 3D setup as far as I know.

I don't own it myself but this site has it listed as including a 3D Blu-ray and BleedOrange11 also suggests that it is in 3D.

One Piece: Straw Hat Chase has more pop-out moments than Film Gold. You have relatively high standards, and for you, I wouldn't recommend Film Gold as a shining example of amazing 3D or as being much better than Harlock.

It's been a while since I've watched the two One Piece films. My memory isn't perfect, so I can't offer more specifics about the number or strength of 3D pop-outs in either without re-watching them. But these were my ratings for the films in discussion:

One Piece: Film Gold:
Movie - 3.5/5
3D - 3/5

One Piece: Straw Hat Chase:
Movie - 3/5
3D - 4/5

Toriko 3D: Gourmet Adventure:
Movie - 3/5
3D - 3.5/5

Captain Harlock: Space Pirate:
Movie - 3.5/5
3D - 3/5

Yu-Gi-Oh: Bonds Beyond Time:
Movie - 3/5
3D - 3/5

Nutcracker Fantasy (maybe small bias here since I spent forever syncing and partially translating the English subs myself):
Movie - 3.5/5
3D - 3.5/5

This is incorrect. I own it on Blu-ray 3D and have watched it, remuxed with English subtitles. I recommend the box set that also comes with Toriko 3D, as they played together in stereoscopic 3D theatrically in Japan.

Thanks.

I dunno if I have high standards, I'm thinking I have insensitive eyes.

Oh!? That's good to hear... I guess I should have just looked more. Every single one I found said 3D, but wasn't SBS/OU so I assumed they meant the 3D animation. Guess I will have to keep a look out for it!

This is a personal favourite. I would say the conversion is on the milder side but it does enhance the hand drawn animation and there are special effects such as gold flakes falling beyond the plane of the screen.

It adds pizazz to the very high production values - even the music is surprisingly excellent. The story is overly convoluted but always fun. The takedown of one of the mini bosses by turning luck against her is inspired.

I recommend pairing it with the US dub track which is superb, lip sync is less of an issue on animation and they’ve translated it very well. You can then soak up the visuals. I can’t go back to the Japanese track now.

Straw Hat Chase has stronger 3d but I didn’t care for it. It is presented in an ugly CGI style and there’s no real story.
