no, just that plot had a lot of pretentious words that don't click together in my head, so it confused me

Full trailer has been released and this looks like one kick ass creepy/scary movie. Can't wait to see it.

I wouldn't mind, but I'm certain that the same people didn't create both Saw and Paranormal Activity

It's by the same writer and director of Saw. And producer of Paranormal Activity I believe. From what I read, this is suppose to be the Poltergeist of this generation. So the director said. But we'll see about that.

Apparently this film also got big praise from those who has seen it at the film festival.

Thumbs up

I highly enjoyed this.

Quote:
This is how a horror film should be made, and it's one of the scariest and most entertaining examples of the genre I've seen in the last few years. It may not match the absolute cream of the scream crop--The Exorcist, The Shining, obvious inspiration Poltergeist, 28 Days Later--but it comes close enough to applaud. It's clear James Wan is having a blast behind the camera, and this is without a doubt his most accomplished and well-crafted film to date. Every scare, whether it's a subtle visual detail or an enormous jump scene, is staged with an appealing playfulness. (The use of Tiny Tim's "Tipetoe Through the Tulips" is clever and creepy.) And the film is grounded by the capable duo of Wilson and Byrne, who deliver mature, above average (for the genre) performances.

I was reading through Entertainment Weekly and saw they gave this an A-. That is a hell of a good score for a PG-13 horror movie. I am going to have to see if I can fit this in along with Source Code.

Just saw it last night. The story line had some potential, and there were some good "jump" moments in the beginning. But by the middle the screenplay really fell apart and it turned into one of those horror movies that is so bad it turns into comedy. For the last third of the movie the entire theater was laughing at the things that were supposed to be scary.

[Show spoiler]For anyone who has seen it.. the part where the paranormal investigator lady puts on the gas mask device to communicate with the "further" world is where things REALLY start to come apart.

I just saw this. Pardon my French, but how the f*ck was this made with a 1.5 mil budget. Wow just wow. That's amazing how they did this especially with 3 major stars.

Insidious is a film that will be pretty polarizing, much like Paranormal Activity was. I for one loved it. It's a film that if you're prepared to go along for the ride, you'll come out totally rewarded. If you're a cynical movie goer seeing the film in a theater full of a#$holes who laugh at the screen when it's inappropriate, then you're probably going to react the same way as the rest of the audience.

I love to be terrified, as did the rest of the theater audience i saw Insidious with. For the first 40 minutes or so, Insidious is a straight-up haunted house flick. When
[Show spoiler]the family moves, and it's discovered that their son is haunted, and not their house, because he's a gifted astral projector
, it takes a sharp turn into fantasy horror territory. I loved this direction. All of the performances were top notch, including Barbara Hershey and Lin Shaye. Rose Byrne (love her) and Patrick Wilson did a fine job of making the terrifying sequences believable.

If you're a fan of fantasy horror like Hellraiser, Phantasm, Poltergeist, or The Dark, and you WANT to be terrified, you'll enjoy the hell out of this film. If you go into it with a cynical attitude, just turn around and see some boring garbage like Limitless or something.
