Default Sony BWU100A problem

I installed the Sony BWU100A drive. It works fine so far (although for some reason, when I put in a BD movie, the computer can't play it because it's some kind of unsupported format).

Why does my computer read it as a DVD/CD drive? Everywhere I look for this BD drive, it is labeled as either DVD-RW drive or DVD/CD rom???

Do you, or anyone, know how to fix this problem? All I want to do is burn videos onto BD discs.

I'm waiting for Apple to release a version either of iDVD or iMovie HD that will offer codecs and burn options for blu-ray. Could be soon, or with Leopard. Some options are already available for XP but I have no idea about the Windows platform. Toast 8 will burn data files to BD_RE. I've tried burning HD movies but the compression using Toast is as if I were putting it on a regular DVD. It played in my Sony BDP-S1, but with no definition, much less high definition.
I understand that Final Cut Pro has blu-ray capabilities, but I'm not spending over $1000 on that just yet. Ad I've heard Adobe or somebody has a program as well in the $500 and up range. I'm looking for free still.

Mine shows up as a CD/DVD drive also. That really shouldn't matter. Do you have any software for playing Blu-Rays? You could always download the cyberlink BD advisor. That will tell you if you system is BD compatable.

I really only want to use it to burn stuff, not watch movies. It came with an entire bundle of Cyberlink programs, none of which worked. All compatibility issues with the system. Somehow, though, when I open op PowerDVD BD Edition, I get that same error message, but when I just ignore it, the program will still run *confused*. BUT then again... when I tried watching 300, a message came up saying I had put in an unsupported format... so I don't know why everything has to be so complicated.
