Default My Panasonic 2011 TC-P42ST30 Plasma Television Died. Fix it?

My kids told me the TV wasn't working. They were right for once. Six flashing red lights and a blank screen when I turn it on.

I'm guessing the power board has to be replaced. Any idea what it would cost to have it repaired? I love this TV and would like to continue using it.

My brother had a TV go out back in 2015, He had a board replaced for about 400.00 installed by a local tv repair shop. They gave him a 90 day warranty as the part was only available used. The TV lasted about 13 months and did the same thing.

Might be better off getting a cheap 300 set for the kids. best buy has one on sale today.

Wow. Thanks. That is cheap for 4K. And it's bigger than our TV, too. However, Westinghouse isn't a brand that gives me the warm fuzzies.

I've heard that $400 quote before. It's probably right. I saw that the board probably goes for $100. If a tech is skilled, I can't imagine the repair taking more than an hour. Those are attorney rates at $300 an hour.

If you are going to junk the TV, may as well try to replace the board by yourself.

Seriously, replacing a board is not as hard as you think. Take pictures and take notes. Most of the time all of the plugs are idiot proof. Check youtube to see if there is a tutorial.

I might do that. I just looked at the price of replacing it with another 3D TV. Holy shit! Selection is slim and way expensive.

Bummer. Them Panny plasmas were and are great tv's. The day mine dies will be the day I lose faith in humanity. Kidding obviously but OLED might be my next display. Of course it all depends if prices come down and burn in is fixed.
