Hope you're not attached to any of the extras on those DVDs (commentaries, Kieslowski short films) because many of them are not duplicated on the Criterion set.

Will be interesting to see how the UK Artificial Eye set stacks up against this.

One of my most anticipated releases since the format started. These are all classic movies in their own right.

The Artificial Eye release of The Double Life of Veronique was not a bad release at all, but the Criterion disc had more extras and *slightly* better PQ. As long as the Artificial Eye set isn't like the French set, I think it will be OK.

Do you think we can expect this to be $40 during the November B&N sale?

Heard but not watched. Will see how. Btw, I am new to Criterion, what is so great about this? Will there be a non-Criterion version?

Very true (I have the AE release of Veronique). I expect AE's release of this to be equal in video at best and slightly inferior at worst, but they may bring some worthwhile exclusive extras to the table. One of those "big fans will want to own both" sort of things. And occasionally, the odd international release scores a flat out upset victory over the big C.

Like every Criterion blu-ray...At some point in time, this will go on sale. It will probably go on sale for less than $40 even, as the Criterion store asking price currently is $63.96. Buuut, this trilogy is one of the main things that I have been waiting for since I was first introduced to blu-ray, many a year ago. Even though I KNOW it will, at some point, go on sale. I think this is a must for me to either pre-order it or purchase day of release...and I'm guessing that's the same for the tons of other people who have been waiting for this release as well.

Damn, I don't know much about Criterion, other than they are known for putting out top notch releases, but that probably means that not only will the price be higher at first, but it probably won't drop very much for a long time. After Sept and Oct, and with Super 8 "likely" falling into November, I'll mostly be looking for bargains only for the rest of the year, other than a few must have's, because of all the Christmas buying won't allow for me to just throw money at any and all blu-rays. Damned kids shouldn't need presents.

I guess this will be a 2012 release for me.

As long as it is not released after the sale period.

Never met any restrictions on the 50% sale. With membership there's also at least another 10% discount.
