Question Plasma repair question.

Just got my Panny Plasma back from the repair shop where it had to get the board replaced. Upon getting it home I found 3 spots on the screen which I though was glue. When I went to clean it off I realized it was burn marks like the screen had been hit with a solder iron. Then today as I was showing it to someone we noticed 3 'smudges' in one corner. After running the anti-image retention program ALL afternoon it has faded slightly. My question is, Can the screen be replaced? The shop is avoiding me at the moment. They were coming in at 3 yesterday then I called them and they would touch base last night (never happened), then in at lunch hour today (never happened) then would be in around 4 (never happened). Now they are closed until Monday. Needless to say I am NOT impressed.
Stupid-like, I asked if it can be replaced on Facebook to which I got several "Buy new, it's cheaper". I said find me a new THX certified Plasma and I will as I love plasma. I then get this......
There is virtually no difference between plasma, LCD, and LED in terms of display quality and refresh rates. Each technology accomplishes the same though different means.
I am speechless on that. Hahaha

Well, you've been unlucky, but it is a sad fact that nothing lasts forever. Get an LED or OLED TV.

True but I bought it in Dec 2011 so I thought it should last longer. Maybe I need to start looking at LED as the OLED is too expensive. Hopefully the shop helps me out on this.

I have had a Panasonic Plasma since 2005 and have never had any trouble with it.

If those defects were not on screen before you've took it to the shop, then the technician had carelessly mishandled or damaged the screen while it was being repaired. If the serviceman does not respond to any of your verbal or written messages, I would send the repair shop a certified letter threatening to pursue legal action against them in small claims court to settle the dispute, if he continue to invade and ignore your communications, and maybe he will make an arrangement to repair the screen without any additional charge, or compensate you financially to prevent from going to court. If you didn't take any pictures of the screen before you've took it to the shop, the repairman can very easily denied any wrong doing. It would be your word against his!

That is the sad, unfortunate truth, I never took before shots. It never occurred to me to do so as they were always reputable. I bought my first TV there when I had a paper route as a kid. The original owner (son owns shop now) was one I delivered papers to at his house. They were always excellent to deal with so hopefully he steps up and helps me out. I will try calling him again on Monday to see what happens. IF I cannot get it repaired which it sounds like it cannot as another poster above said I may have to start looking at a new set which is NOT in my budget. I did a quick browse at LED's but no idea what is comparable to my current set.

I did post on my Facebook asking if anybody knows if it can be repaired but people turned it into buy new, 4K is where it's at...etc and the above comment that I highlighted. That guy even said refresh rates do not matter as long as you turn off motion blur feature. Couldn't argue as I don't know.

Maybe he can get me a new Panny at cost or less? What is a good model there? 60" would be max that would fit in my space, and that is pushing it. Currently I have a 55".
Thanks

You may be able to squeeze in a 60", if you already have a 55". In regards to the type and model, It depends on whether of not if you're willing to invest in 4K (UHDTV), or just a regular 1080p HDTV. What type of features are you interested in?

I would dispute the charges with your credit card company and go from there. Good Luck

Not in market for TV and shop are treating me like SHT! Panasonic has stepped up and offered a discount on a new set. No idea how much though. Never looked into 4K or LED's as I felt no need. I am fully open to suggestions.
On phone now with card company.
