The opening shot of the house looks absolutely terrible with noise, dirt and debris (but that could just be a side effect from the composite effects) and what looks to be a DVD master but once the film starts proper it looks pretty good. Still a bit dirty but what you'd expect really. There doesn't appear to be a lot of DNR or smoothing going on.

This is good news! They don't have to bother with Bordello of Blood, as t*ts aren't compensation enough for a crap movie with Dennis Miller.

Miller really has got that special form of smugness, the kind where you just want to kick him to the ground and keep kicking once he's down there.

For the record, the Cinema Cult release aspect ratio is 1.66:1, the original aspect ratio is 1.85:1.If that bothers you, it’s either the (far superior) Shout/Scream Factory region A locked US release, or the “overpriced hard to procure on the best of days” German region B combo release. Otherwise, just deal, least it don’t look like you’re watching it on your grandmother’s 1960 Rank Arena cathode ray driven beast of a telly.

My ridiculous review of the Cinema Cult Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight release is here

The aspect ratio is 1.85:1. The cover states 1.66:1.

Why superior? If this loses the compression issues of the shout it wins by default

It 'looks' fine for the most part, but that's about it. This is a bare bones release with no extras/ bonus material, no commentaries, nothing. Hell, this doesn't even have subs for HoH punters. It's just the flick and that's it.

The only thing in its favour is that it's a relatively cheap Region B option.

As far as the aspect ratio goes, according to Davidian's BDinfo post, if I'm reading it correctly, this is a 16:9 image -

As a part of my religious beliefs, I try never to believe the Cinema Cult cover specs. I mean, the cover also credits Jada Pinkett Smith, but the film itself is pre-Smith Jada, so...
