Starting a home theatre

hey everyone, i'm going to start my own home theater up and i'm already about to start with a new tv:

I was wondering if there is any good receiver i need to get. I've been reading about lot of people saying how great the onkyo 850 is, but thats a little out of my price range. maybe something like $400?

I was also considering some bose speakers sometime in the future but i havn't really heard anyone say anything about those on here, right now i have some phillips speakers, except they are pre wired to a plastic clip for my dvd surround system. I just figured i'll cut the wires and strip them so i can plug them into a reciever.
