According to Amazon, the release date is June 14th.
![]() I didn't have the chance to catch this in theaters but I'm a big fan of both Michael Showalter and Sally Field (as well as the majority of the rest of the cast) so I'm looking forward to checking it out. Last edited by PopcornBandit; 05-02-2016 at 05:48 PM. |

Easy day one. Saw it twice in theatres and loved it.

I never got a chance to see this in the theaters. Blind buy for me. I have a feeling it will be worth it. I'm a huge Showalter fan so I look forward to watching with commentary. I mean I assume he is included since he co-wrote and directed it.

Excellent movie. Sally Field deserves an Oscar nomination for this, but I have a feeling she'll be overlooked due to it being released so early in the year.

This isn't the first time this has happened (Robot & Frank, Insidious: Chapter 3, and the recent Special Correspondents are a few other examples). |

Slightly disappointed that it doesn't include the original short film, which seems like a perfect bonus feature and which I'd really like to see.
The movie is really, really good. I'm a big fan of Showalter, and it was great to see how easily Sally Field slipped into that style of comedy, and how much the audience (which was mostly older women) got into some very Showalter-y humor. It's also a big step up from "The Baxter". I like "The Baxter", don't get me wrong, this is just a big step forward filmmaking-wise. Going into May, Sally Field & Tyne Daly are topping the "funniest comedy team of the year" list, and I don't know who the competition will be for the rest of the year. |

For all the Michael Showalter fans, a new book on the history of The State was released today called "The Union of The State" and it looks to be pretty substantial (598 pages!).
http://www.amazon.com/Union-State-Co...rds=099740051X I couldn't find it on B&N's site. If anyone can, let me know. It would be nice to be able to use that 20% code on it. Last edited by MrTwoArms; 05-04-2016 at 02:38 AM. |

I guess no UV digital copy? Sony has been setting a new precedent with no UV copies for smaller independent films later (and $20+ prices to boot): Grandma, The Lady In The Van, now probably Doris as well. That is disappointing as the movie was great.
