At the risk of starting too many threads today, this one just popped into my head.
What are your five favorite movies that feature a subtitle or alternate title? At first I thought there weren't too many, but then I realized that depending on how you define it, there are a fair amount of them. Here are just five that stand out for me, with the subtitle in bold... 1. 2001: A Space Odyssey 1968 2. Dr. Strangelove: Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb 1964 3. The Trouble With Girls (And How To Get Into It 1969 4. Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter 1984 5. Friday The 13th: A New Beginning 1985 The "Friday The 13th" films above are interesting in that the phrases "Part IV" or "Part V" are implied but never found on their "official titles" (at least not to the best of my knowledge). So those two films might be said to have THREE titles - the franchise name, the subtitle, and an implied title. ![]() |

A few off the top of my head (in no particular order):
1. Terminator 2: Judgment Day 2. Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers 3. Under Siege 2: Dark Territory 4. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan 5. A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors |

1. Dr. Strangelove Or: How I Learned To Stop Worry And Love The Bomb.
2. In the same vein as above: Gas! Or It Became Necessary To Destroy The World In Order To Save It, which also has the alternate title of "Gas-s-s-s" 3. Airplane II: The Sequel 4. Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday (only because it's the second film in the series to call itself "Final", and in both cases it's a lie!) 5. Naked Gun 33 1/3: For The Record (the original title before it was changed to The Final Insult, thereby totally cancelling out the 33 1/3 joke) |
