Default Discouraging statistics regarding the future of indie and art house films

So I ran across this info graphic regarding the trends of indie and art house films. A few things stood out regarding millennial's viewing habits. It appears that the 20-35 year olds are still going to theaters to watch films but they are not seeking out art house or indie films but instead horror, tentpoles/blockbusters, and young adult comedies.

What does this mean for the indie film industry in general? Will these same millennial's develop a different taste as they grow older or will they be conditioned to reject smaller indie projects?

Thoughts?

I have two adult children and I know the type of films their friends watch. When they see my collection, they have zero desire to watch anything that wasn't made within the last few years. They also won't watch anything with subtitles or if they consider it too slow paced.
