It's just that hard to find slipcover discussiion is more for the slipcover discussion thread. We really don't need another thread to discuss these slips when really, alot of slips that are considered hard to find are easy to get with effort.

Basically any slipcover that came with a BD that was released in 2010 or before is getting hard to find. The rarer slipcovers were exclusives to a particular store and/or event. There's also quite a few slipcovers that were not printed for their entire first pressing, Beetlejuice for example.

Rarity is completely subjective. I might not be able to find a single slip for something like, say, 13 Assassins, but someone out east might have 5 stores nearby with multiple copies each.
As a slipcover collecting community we are trying to get away from tagging things as rare since all that does is make greedy people sell those slips at exorbitant prices. We haven't had a rarity list in a long while and it should stay that way. |

You know what I've been thinking long and hard about this in the last few weeks.
With how all the prices have sky-rocketed in the last few months, maybe it's time we have a price-guide, not a rarity list for slips, I'm tired of newbs being taken advantage of and people just posting crazy prices. And to be honest, we all are aware that greedy people have been raising prices regardless of having a rarity list or not. I think we need to help new ones to understand not the "rarity" of the slip, but to be familiar of what they should pay for one. If someone posts a lenticular slip, that doesn't automagically make it worth $15 or $20 bucks. Some need to know that just because someone post a slip being rare, doesn't make it so. They need to know what factors they need to consider on price when making a purchase. things like that. We all have overpaid for a slip, let's just know when or why to do so ![]() |

![]() ![]() This one is extremely rare. It's an official Pocahontas slipcover by Disney Thailand. Embossed on all sides, front and back. Holofoil on all sides, frond and back. And one the best quality I've ever seen. The ones I have are mint condition, brand new, coming straight from the factory where they are pressed. This is out of print for years now. Still ... It's not easy to sell them. I paid a lot to get the very last ones that were made. But half of the people that were part of the powerbuy-deal disapeared when it was time to pay. ![]() |

There are, in my experience, a number of US issued slips which are impossible to find these days "in the wild". Sure, it would be easier, I'd guess, in LA or NYC, than here in Pittsburgh, but that doesn't make them any less rare. Couple examples would be Bram Stoker's Dracula from 2007 and Trick 'r Treat from 2009. We have a chain of used CD/DVD/Blu/Game stores in my region and I've never seen these two.

Hello bjeong1381, This is an issue that has been discussed among the slipcover collectors more than once. There's no way that any of the slipcover collectors in this forum could come up with such a list. Whether a slip is rare or hard to find depends on many different things. Example: If a slip collector lives in a rural area and doesn't have access to pawn shops, fye, disc replay and other places that sell used blu-rays then many slips could be considered rare or hard to find. There's several factors that have to be considered about the rare/hard to find category. A collector's location, how often they go out hunting for slips, how many spots do they have available to search, their budget and most importantly, luck. If a collector is in the U.S. then it's naturally going to be harder to find slips from Canada, U.K., Germany, Korea and other countries. There just isn't a way for any collector to put together a list of rare/hard to find slips. It just depends on many different factors. Example: Just because you see a slipcover on eBay selling for 30 bucks doesn't necessarily mean that it's rare or hard to find. It probably means that the seller is trying to profit from the wallet of an uniformed collector. The regular slipcover collectors in this forum are a small bunch but a very knowledgeable bunch of collectors. If you're just starting out in slipcover collecting then welcome to this section of the forum. The best advice that I can give you is to read the posts in the slipcover discussion thread and look at the pics of hauls in the recent haul thread. Also, if you have a slip or come across a slip that you think might be rare or hard to find, post and ask the collectors in the discussion thread. Thanks
