Fingers crossed still for Ghostbusters (2016). Suicide Squad will probably do well but some may be confused by the conflicting tones presented in the trailers. I've not even heard of Nine Lives.

Anyone that thinks anything will top Suicide Squad next weekend, is either lying to themselves, or know nothing about film.

Hell, I don't even like comic book movies, and I'm really anticipating it.

Depends on good word of mouth, but I'll go with $90-$100M.

That sounds like somebody had a really strange dream and pitched it straight away as a movie.

I will not take advice from a Frozen song.

Conflicting tones?

There's only one tone I'm getting from the trailers.

I posted this in the Box Office Showdown for this coming weekend when the topic of "Suicide Squad" was brought up, but it would be more appropriate in this thread.

For this weekend's box office, I believe a "Walking Dead" analogy fits:

"Suicide Squad" is Negan. And "Ghostbusters"...is...IT.

I voted for $100 - $110 million, but actually think it'll be much higher. Wasn't there an early tracking report a few weeks ago that had it in the $150 million range?

Will make things very interesting for WB and the DCU if this outperforms BvS...

Maybe they should go in the opposite direction and focus their extended universe on villain solo films with villain team-ups rather than superheroes?

I might be the only one on this site that thinks SS looks like absolute garbage. Free library rental for me.

Smith, Margot, Cara, Joel....some of the worst actors in the world imo. Ugh.

Absolute garbage? Yes, I'm sure you would be the only one who thinks that but I'm sure there are some who think it just looks bad though.

While I don't agree with this statement, how can you make such a statement and not even mention Jai Courtney? That's just insulting to acting criticism.

I have pity for you. It may or may not be misplaced, but I have it.

Anyway, Suicide Squad is going to dominate, quality or no. It's already tracking Deadpool numbers and thanks to marketing + lack of competition, it's going tl clean house next week.

I actually have hopes, surprisingly. Solid cast, interesting premise and a quality writer/director definitely help.

I had to vote $100M-$110M because that was the highest available.

But my actual prediction is $135M.
