Today, I took possession of a new house and it comes complete with a beautiful room which I plan to turn into my home cinema room. I went and purchased a 120" Screen, a Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 3020 Projector, and am going to integrate all existing speakers and reciever into what I dream will be a top of the line cinema experience.

Been dying to post this news in this thread for a long time. Today, I finally can! This has been a dream of mine for a long time and I finally have the means to do it.

First step in creating a home theater, tape everything off and paint!!

This will be the wall that the screen will be mounted on.

That ceiling fan is coming down this week. Then the rest of the room is going to be painted Dark Crimson.

Everything is just waiting for the painting to be completed so that things can be mounted and hung.

Good looking space with a nice big wall for your screen! Hope you get to fire up your projector soon, it's awesome the first time you see it up on the wall.

The wife and I have been painting the other 3 walls a Dark Crimson. Learned that it is not easy to paint in red.

I did my room in a dark red called "Bodega". I didn't find it all too difficult, pretty much a single coat worked. It was a premium paint with a primer in it (of course, I had also primed the walls before hand). Only a few spots ended up being a touch too light so I just went over them again but for the most part the once over with the roller worked. By the time I finished one wall, the beginning of it was dry so I could see the finished product.

In your case, you've got carpet to worry about and trim already set up. I think protecting that would be the biggest issue.

Bolega was one of the colors I brought home and thought about.

We bought the Behr Marquee which (in theory) was supposed to be paint primer and a one coat finish. It took two coats. We just finished painting. We are quite sore.

Ordered the home theater seating today. Will arrive on the 22nd.

Some updates....

I had a housewarming party this weekend and it was imperative that I get a demo of the system going. So I got my buddy to come over and we put together the screen and mounted the projector while I hard wired in 3 speakers and the subwoofer. After me and my Mrs finished painting the walls (that sucked ass) of course.

Right now I am looking at 5.1 but I have a 7.1 reciever so thinking of where I could place 2 speakers that look aesthetically pleasing to the room.
