Undecided about picking this up. Confused as to whether it will remind me of the mighty 5th Element or whether it will remind me of Jupiter Ascending. Thoughts anyone?

I'm seriously thinking of going to see this drunk. The cast does nothing for me... But I have to give it a chance for the sake of it being Besson's return to sci-fi fantasy. Can't believe The Fifth Element was twenty years ago. It only seems like yesterday I was watching it on opening weekend.

I thought she was very good in The Face of an Angel and Paper Towns. I just don't know if this film is appealing to me. I'll hold off until it hits Netflix/NowTV or something.

Very disappointed in this film. I expected a whole lot more. Might have been better if it was 60min long. Too many long stretches where the story doesn't move forward. All around bad cast. I give it a C-.

Same attitude here.

Expecting, to paraphrase TheBlayMan, a great looking and sounding transfer of a solid C- piece of eye candy and to get most of my money back quickly flogging it and the UV code on Ebay.

Both the leads are bad in this. They have no chemistry together and Valerian is essentially a sex pest all the way through. There's some lovely visuals but nothing much holds up well. I like Besson but this is my least favourite of his flicks. Not a great film IMO.

Generally I love Besson's work, but sci-fi isn't really his forte - I loathe The Fifth Element.

I'm not going to write someone off after having only seen one of their films, but the only exposure I have had to Luc Besson is Lucy, which is enough to make me wait for impressions before going to see any of his future films in the cinema.

I'm definitely more to likely look into his older stuff on DVD/BD with the right recommendations. At least if I really don't like it I can probably sell it on. Just to make sure I have the right ones, it's these two?

I loved the movie.
Visual stunning, so much fun and it captures the spirit of the graphic novels, which I've read since I was a kid. No complaints about Cara at all, who already convinced me in the magical Paper Towns. I also liked Dane alot who was an excellent playful Valerian.

Maybe I'm looking at the movie different because I read the graphic novels. I wouldn't say it's the best movie I'll see this year, but I think it will be the most beautiful.

3D and 4K for me. And if the 4K of Lucy is any indication of the quality, this will be a new demodisc.
