This is a great flick and I will definitely be getting it. Still, the Forsyth adaptation I REALLY want is Day of the Jackal. When oh when will that come out??? Somebody? Anybody? Masters of Cinema in the UK, how about you guys?

Absolutely agree. The Day of the Jackal is a top shelf 70's thriller, one of my 5 most wanted on Blu-ray. It belongs to Universal, so it might come out one day. It is directed by Fred Zinnemann (From Here to Eternity and other classics), one of my favorite directors.

Solid action flic with a compelling performance by a wonderfully intense Christopher Walken. It's been awhile since I've seen this but can't fathom why they would have felt the need to punch the theatrical release up by deleting a quarter-hour's worth of material. As memory serves, the film was sufficiently taut and fast-moving to satisfy anyone's taste!

Also strongly agree with the previous comments about Day of the Jackal. This is a real classic. Does Criterion have any access to Paramount properties?

The Day of the Jackal is one of my absolute favorites; fantastic film! It's with Universal, not Paramount and yes, Criterion have access to Paramount/Universal properties.

Hopefully, TT will be able to crack the Uni's vault soon.

Saw this in the theater back in the day, been waiting for this on BD. Don't expect wall to wall action, still definitely worth checking out. Great story and acting.
