Default 4k TV still benefit 1080p sources?
My mom is willing to sell me her Sony 40" 1080p LCD for around half the retail price. I don't have any 4k source material to watch, just a few regular blu-rays and mostly 1080p streaming through iTunes and Vudu. I will be sitting around 5 ft from the screen. I currently don't own a TV and use the 32" TV in the guest bedroom or the 48" TV in my parent's bedroom. Would a 4k TV still benefit 1080p sources such has regular blu-rays due to the smaller pixels at viewing 5 ft away from the screen or should I save my money and buy the TV she's willing to sell to me?
