Default Psycho-Pass The Movie

Funimation has just announced that tickets for Psycho-Pass the movie are on sale in the US with the movie showing at select theatres on the 15th and 16th March.

I have a strong feeling they won't show it in the UK, I guess I'll have to wait for the Blu-ray. Anyway here is the dubbed trailer at long last.

It looks amazing and I've heard from those who have seen the Japanese version that it's better than season 2. I enjoyed season 2 but the first season is superior.

Not a fan of the theatrical date. They aren't giving me time to watch Season 2 when it comes out on BD.

I believe this one isn't connected to season 2, just requires Season 1 viewing or something. Urobutchi is back for this one too, from what I've heard of S2 it's better off ignored anyway.

I heard rumours that Mandatory Happiness was coming out towards the end of the year in the west, but I've heard little about it for a while.

As for season 2, I can't say for sure whether you'll be hurting your experience watching the movie before season 2, but not that much happened in S2 and it's only 11-12 episodes long.

I've been told the opposite and that Season 2 leads directly into the movie.

I believe it's set shortly after, but the season 2 story is supposedly stand alone and has no relevance to the movie. However I cannot confirm this (besides Season 2 being mostly stand alone, it was a hot mess just like everything Urobutchi leaves). I'm going to assume that whoever told you the opposite has actually seen the film because I certainly haven't- they're probably more right than I am here

I enjoyed 2 despite Kamui being a clone of Makashima. I can definitely see why season 1 is preferred.

I still have to get around to watching Season 1. Have heard some really good things about it (my anime backlog just keeps getting bigger and bigger). Why didn't I get the Premium edition when it was still in print?!

So you've seen it then? Is it true that this takes place between the two seasons? Or does it indeed take place after Seaosn 2?

The movie is a sequel in that it takes place after season 2 but has more to do with season one story wise.

Is it just me, or is the price of Season 2 the same price that the entirety of Season 1 cost, and that had twice the episode count?

Season 1 has been out for quite a while, so in a way, it's just you.

No, I meant when Season 1 first came out, both volumes were on sale $26 a piece and that was 22 episodes. Season 2 comes out on Tuesday and its $50.

Got this today:

We spent the day watching the whole thing.

Positives:

It goes into the origins behind the Sybil System.
Animation was about the same as the first season despite being done by a different studio.
The paradox of the Sybil system debate.

Negatives:

Characters are pretty much there just to die.
The main villain was lackluster.
The new Inspector girl is a little *****!!
The plot was rushed.
No stand alone episodes.
Very little in the way of philosophical conversations.

Overall, while it wasn't as good as the first season, it was still a pretty solid season in the end. It's biggest issues come from how rushed it was, which never allowed there to be a deep intricate plot, good long philosophical debates, and very little in the way of character development. Also, the Kamui was not even half as interesting as Makishima as he ended up being a gimmick more than a character. Nevertheless, it was still enjoyable with some good action and the stuff it does worked well. Well, outside of the new Inspector girl, she needs to die.
