Default Hey Arnold! (TV Movie)

Quote:
Nickelodeon is reviving one of its most beloved NickToons of days past, namely Hey Arnold! in a new made-for-TV movie that could be the first of several classic series to make a comeback on the Viacom-owned channel under newly appointed executive Chris Viscardi. The new film will tie up loose ends from the series, specifically the whereabouts of Arnold’s parents.

“Kids who grew up on these characters are now of the age that they are having kids and families themselves,” said Russell Hicks, president, content development and production, for Nickelodeon Group. “Our library has come to fruition and it’s time for it to start coming back to life. You have to remember people who are going to watch really don’t have a recollection of ‘Hey Arnold.’ You have to make it relevant to them but also nod to the audience that is going to be interested.”

Chris Viscardi, co-creator of the classic Nick series “The Adventures of Pete & Pete,” was recently promoted to the new title of senior vice president of content development for franchise properties, meaning he will be in charge of current popular shows like “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” “SpongeBob SquarePants” and “Dora The Explorer” as well as potentially resurrecting older properties like “Ren & Stimpy,” “Rocko’s Modern Life” or “The Wild Thornberrys.”

Created by animator Craig Bartlett, “Hey Arnold!” ran from 1996 to 2004 and concerned a 4th grade boy with a football-shaped-head who lives with his grandparents in an inner-city boarding house. A theatrical movie released in 2002 titled Hey Arnold!: The Movie, which grossed $15 million at the box office. The new film will see Bartlett returning as writer and executive producer.

This is awesome news. Been waiting a long time to see the wrap up of his parents and what happened.

I feel like this is too little too late. And I'm saying that as someone who grew up with and absolutely LOVES Hey Arnold.

Of course I'd love to see a proper conclusion to the mystery of Arnold's parents. That Journal episode is absolutely heart breaking. But at this point they're probably going to have to get new voice actors for all the kids (at least the male ones) and if they're making it for a "modern audience", it's just not going to "feel" right.

I'll remain cautiously optimistic, but, like I said, it just seems like it's a little bit too late for this.

Additionally, Nickelodeon has officially given the greenlight to a two-part animated Hey Arnold! TV movie, written and executive produced by the series’ original creator Craig Bartlett. First announced in development late last year, the now-greenlit TV movie will pick up where the original series ended, resolving unanswered questions and plotlines, including Arnold finally getting answers about the whereabouts of his missing parents. Produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studios in Burbank, the two-hour-long TV movies will debut in 2017.

I really hope its just his Craig's original The Jungle Movie plot. The idea sounded spectacular at the time.

Seems like it. They are using this to finally reveal what happened to his parents and that was the whole plot of the Jungle movie.

To be honest, if this were 10 years ago I'd probably be on board. But while I did watch a ton of Hey Arnold when I was kid, I never really loved it the way I did some of the other Nicktoons. I think I'll give this a pass.

Never did see the show as it debuted pretty much around the time that I stopped watching Nickelodeon regularly. I keep seeing the complete series dvd set at WM and wouldn't mind giving it a chance, though.

I think everyone should watch the jungle TV movie of Hey Arnold even if your not even a person who ever liked Hey Arnold heck even if you hated please watch it. The simple reason is that if the jungle movie of hey Arnold does well than Nickelodeon will see that people want to see revivals of the old Nickelodeon shows and will make new TV movies and new episodes of shows like rugrats, ren and stimpy, rocko's modern life, ah real monsters, the wild thornberrys and yes invader zim.

Nick's already doing a big screen movie crossover of it's old shows. If that does well we could see a lot of revivals. Plus this to.

Would love more Rugrat movies.

eh, everybody in the world could watch it but only households that take part in Nielsen ratings system will count... otherwise they mean nothing to the studios.

Official title revealed, and new pics..

Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie.

It will feature a storyline that picks up from where the original series ended in 2004 and will resolve unanswered questions and plotlines--including Arnold finally getting answers about the whereabouts of his missing parents.

Quote:
The two-hour movie will see the return of the show's cast of characters, along with many of the original voice actors, including Francesca Marie Smith as Helga, Anndi McAfee as Phoebe, Justin Shenkarow as Harold, Olivia Hack as Rhonda, Nika Futterman as Olga, and Dan Butler as Mr. Simmons. Arnold and Gerald will be voiced by newcomers Mason Vale Cotton and Benjamin “L’il P-Nut” Flores Jr., respectively. The original voices of Arnold and Gerald, Lane Toran and Jamil Smith, will voice other characters in the film.
