Default Sony email touts Blu-ray's position!

Yeah Sony, now put this in your TV ads. This was from an email I received from Sony (kind of preaching to the choir though).
"Movie lovers choose Blu-ray Disc movies.
Blu-ray Disc movies are the most popular High-Definition format,
outselling other HD movie formats in 2007 nearly 2 to 1.4
Only the Blu-ray format brings you 7 out of the top 10 box office
grossing films for 2007."

They fail at math though. YTD of 65/35 does not give a ratio of 2:1.4.

I wonder if they realize that the sales of PS3s affects revenues by -$500,000,000 means loss and not profits????

I'm pretty certain the mail only stated "2 to 1".

Wonder how the digit four got there...

Sony is saying 59% to 41%...sounds a tad on the low side...but, perhaps Sony knows something we don't know...

2:1.4 is not metric...it's exactly what it says...2/3.4=59% and 1.4/3.4=41%...

Just a lame joke. I was trying to catch someone saying "oh yeah". I guess I would have had some takers if I had said this to some dudders.

What a poorly written correspondence. Would it not be easier to state the percentage instead of a ratio.

I am horrible at this kind of stuff, but if the ratio is 65:35 (ballpark), then one can say that Blu-ray sells 85.7% more than HD DVD. Please correct me, because I dont' want to be responsble for FUD.
