Crawl space sub Yes or No

Since I own my home now - and I'm on a crawl space - why not turn that in to an IB subwoofer? I'm thinking about that - recoup the space of my current subs and let the crawl space work for me? Hmmm?

What do you think? My only problem will be if my wife or guest are sleep - since the entire house will now be part of the subwoofer.

Hummm, shouldn't be a problem. My current setup is in the basement, and when the subs bang, its already part of the house.. lol

What type of gear are you talking about using to create this IB sub?

I may use Acoustic Elegance IB15 subwoofers (x4). I would use a miniDSP 2x4 for my EQ (like I am currently using). I have almost everything I would need to do this - Might even use 18 x 4 instead of 15's

If your crawl space is like mine and everybody else, which is damp, dusty and cold with various insects crawling in from outdoors through the vents, I wouldn't dare put any kind of electronic equipment in my crawl space. Besides all of your plumbing, heating /AC pipes, ducts to your dryer, etc is installed in your crawl space. A person doesn't live, nor have a home theater in their crawl space, so It's a bad idea to put a subwoofer underneath the house. It's hard enough trying to do any kind of necessary home improvement or repair work in a crawl space, then a person getting on their hands and knees trying to install a IB subwoofer.

My pipes are in my crawl space, yes - but they are isolated to one side of the home. All of my heating and ac are in the ceiling and my Washer - dryer room is a seperate room outside connected to the car port. It would be the opposite of turning an attic into a sub - but I do see potential problems , but it was a cool though

100lbs isn't bad and that is heavy. Mine are 127lbs each..

My P1512's (aka ae-av15) are a bit heavier than 127lbs - more like 175lbs each. My main Power amp weighs in around a 100lbs though.

Its been done before, if theres a will theres a way. People in the Northern Hemisphere have had issues with condensation in winter but nothing that lead to a failure.
